I'll Teach for the day, or Wallpaper someone's house and no review is necessary. Sometimes I'll spend 50p online and be pestered half a dozen times for a review. I've tried to leave the occasional shorty review on eBay or Amazon and been told I can't leave it.
On the other hand I also hate a useless review. Trying to buy a new shower and people harp on about customer service and nothing about the actual shower, or they tell you how great the shower is and how they can't wait for it to be installed.

It’s usually a requirement to gauge feedback for companies wanting ISO9001 accreditation
This is the crux of it. I'm responsible for our QS certification (and it's ongoing successful renewal) and feedback - being able to evidence that you actively seek it, and respond to it - is pretty central to it all.

BUT - You can't expect people to give up their time for free. If there's no potential prize or benefit, then I won't fill out a survey.

Usually if they piss me off I'll answer their survey out of anger. Most will try & correct the issues and if necessary dismiss employees who have multiple bad responses. Those that don't will usually fail as a business. If not too angry I will ignore the request for a survey. If really impressed I will make up great responses.

I wish the bus company I have to use asked for feedback, they’d hear some new words (most of which I learnt on here). Do companies who know they are shite, and really don’t care, ever ask for feedback?
The trouble is, and I think why many of us hate them, is that they don't ask for words, just ask us stupid questions to be answered with 1 to 10.
"Would you recommend xxxx to your friends and family?" Well, no, I wouldn't. So I'll answer with a 1 then if you insist.
My friends and family are intelligent enough to make up their own minds - and anyway I seriously can't imagine in any conversation just dropping in a sentence like, "Ooh, British Gas are just wonderful" or "I think Virgin Media give such incredibly good value, don't you?" I just can't imagine what sort world the people who make up these questionnaires think I live in!

But I bet you all read reviews when considering using a company or restaurant or hotel ??
Hotels yes, but I contribute to the site I use by reviewing all those I stay in…………..I don’t often check any other review sites before buying anything (although plenty now have their review scores posted on their websites anyway)

I think NSC should introduce feedback for its threads after members post on them.

A free clacker for every review :albion2:

Something like a thumbs up/down button perhaps
Nah, I'm talking proper feedback, like:

"This thread was interesting at first but quickly spiralled into several binfests as well as a load of stupid fish puns, right/left political points-scoring and some poster wanging on about how everything was '-defining'.

⭐ Would NOT recommend"
