Would be interested to see what the equivalent sick rate is for, say, NHS nurses and doctors, firefighters and so on.

But that may spoil the Argus's agenda.

I did define success. I said which part of the public sector is more efficient than it would be, if it were privatised.

I would need a working example, I couldn't make a comparison otherwise.

I'll go for a local examaple - The council outsourced its waste management for anumber of years (ecovert and all the other names they traded under) The council brought the service back in-house with CityClean which has been a huge success. Sure there has been strike action (its B&H council, July strike action is pretty much a banker) but the refuse service and recycling service offered is of a much higher quality.

And don't get me started on outsourced payroll and PENSION contracts I've worked with.

NHS is more (around 10 days per employee), no idea regarding firefighters, local government also around 10 days.

It amazes me that, given the past years of failure in every section of our public sector, there are still some people who think teachers, doctors, police officer, civil servants etc are somehow better than other people and deserve special treatment. Lazy, useless, incompetent wankers - all of them.

Quite right. Next time you need the emergency services, call 999 and DEMAND to speak to a website designer

So tiring to have a conversation with people throwing in unsupported one liners.

Know what you are talking about or know when to sit back and observe and save me from uneducated ill informed drivel.

I'm talking in a broad scale. Maybe there's room for somebody to start a competent waste management company in Brighton if it can be done better on the taxpayer's pound.

Well, if you need a working example - how about comparing the NHS to, say, PruHealth or Bupa - as has been done above in this topic.

I'm not about to enter into a long debate about it, the fact is - the vast majority of industries would be far more efficient if they were privatised, that is all.

if that is regarding my post, i have been involved throughout.. i do know what im talking about. infact, it would seem as though you do not. you have been simply asked to name an efficient public service and the best you can come up with is rubbish collection? when if you walked around any street in central brighton you could not disagree with the fact that it is a filthy city. and your repeated references to getting surgery does not prove anything.. there is such a thing as private healthcare..

Re-reading your posts on page 3, I think you would be more guilty of spouting irrelevant bullshit than anyone else, sir.

Agreed, I can't top your argument. If (like you) I had extensive working experience across all public sector organisations and varied roles throughout said organisations and THEN managed to mirror that experience in ALL private sector organisations that could offer a competitive service then I could also make such sweeping statements.

the fact that you try to end the discussion with this absolute load of shite, after avoiding a few simple questions on the topic which you seem to know so much about, is a shame.
