Does anybody know the rough distance of the perimeter?

Is it also true that we used to train on those pitches?

If we did ever train there it wasn't on those pitches as they were levelled and new drainage put in when they converted it to egg-chasing.
We did used to train in Hove Park.

We used to play inter-house matches there from De La Salle. This was before they levelled the pitches at the Old Shoreham Road side. Kicking downhill, if you were not 10-0 up at half time you were stuffed.

I Remember when the pitches were being levelled out, I must of been 12/13 as we used to climb up the mounds of mud and muck around on them after school, although I cant remember what it looked like before.

I've recently started running around the rec and its quite a large open space and I remember being told once brighton trained there, must be confused with Hove Park.

Does anyone remember the Grice Hockey (Ice hockey played on grass) pitch that used to be there?

Yes. Must have been in the early sixties. Followed on from the demise of Brighton Tigers. I'm sure John Fremantle, who worked for the Argus, played in goal.
I also played cricket there on Christmas Day a couple of times in the sixties.

0.704 miles when I do it?
1.132 km

I have been doing laps on the inside and I made it just over 0.6, fairly happy with myself after last nights effort (8) although the fugby floodlights werent on so it was bloody dark running down towards O-S-R nearest hove park.

Good work! I tried quite a while back and ended up struggling around twice :lolol: Have got myself into some sort of shape since then though so will try again when it warms up a bit!

Do it, I started last monday and have been doing it every week night since, the first effort I managed 3 and thought my head was going to explode, running up alongside the drive is the killer, but i've found pacing myself running up the hill really helps. I was up to 6 laps at the end of last week with a bit more left in the tank and last night I pushed it a little further, I reckon thats my limit for the time being. nice and quiet around there, Hove parks too busy and too much crumpet when you are puffing out of your arse, build up on the rec for some summer jogs around hove park/seafront to have a decent perv.

Seems shorter than that. A lap of the big loop at Hove Park is about a mile. I'd guess the Rec is more like 1km.

I'll try it with my Nike GPS running app one night this week for a more accurate answer!

If you could I would really appreciate it!
