NSC's Most Stalked
I am sad to see the council backing plans to ban ball games no Hove Lawns. I have been going down there since my school days, every sunday (not during sunday league season), and it is where i have met some of my best freinds.
after 4 years of sunday friendlies, some of us decided to start up a Sunday League team (competing in Brighton unior Div 7) and a Westows Team (competing in Thursday Div 1). Although we can continue to use the name, we can no longer play on the seafront lawns legally. I dont honestly think we are doing anything wrong, but police are starting to go down there as of sunday to patrol the situation. Yes the ball has hit traffic, and people walking their dogs across a the grass during a match have been hit, but making it illegal - come on.
Paul Elgood (Lib Dem Councillor) has been influencial in stopping us playing - ok there has to be 2 sides of the story, but surely a killjoy. Where else, central to most people can people play
Just by going there, i have seen some quality players develop and go on to better things in competitive sunday league football, i have also met people that come down from crawley, and it is also a good way of meeting the foreign students that come to brighton.
i dont know why i have posted it on NSC but i feel gutted about what is happening, and felt i had to do it. its nothing on the falmer scale, but i think its worth mentioning
if you have time, please send messages of support (or opposition) to savehovelawnsballgames@hotmail.com - adding your name, location and age
thank you please
