In Guses book thats a qualification to be an Albion striker, and he likes sicknotes as well

He can, though. Remember his rockets for Bristol Rovers against the Albion?

He needs a run in the team.He probably feels under pressure to score and he is snatching at chances but he is finding positions.I think once he scores he won't look back.

Yes, yes and yes. This is what I think too! I hope there is no knee jerk dropping/getting rid of him. Think he could make it given time/opportunity. He is not doing any worse than Barnes.

I don't see why everybody is so quick to jump on the backs of these players if there is no instant result. It's getting very tiresome.

My comment is tongue in cheek Gus is struggling to find a striker that can fit into his team and style of play, team building is somethig Gus is still learning, he will not become a good all round manager overnight

Looks a good player, but like EVERYONE else in our squad, just has no finish.

Perhaps get bring in a coach who specialises in finishing training??

I mentioned this more than once on here,we have the midfield and the defence covered with Poyet, Oatway and Tanno, but do they really understand how a forward ticks and how to get the most out of them.

Still have more time for him, but why oh why did he try and do that wierd scissor kick when a simple header would have done.

I thought it was behind him so that's why he went for the kick.

Our chief coaches are primarily defensive: Poyet, Tanno, Charlie;
None of them really spent time in the 18 yard box.
I say next season Gus will finally realise that he's missing something in his own knowledge and we'll hire a really decent first team coach with an attacking/goal scoring background.
Then we'll prove ready for the Prem!

As a Bristol based Seagull, I have said several times on this forum that Hoskins is a good player. He was excellent at Rovers, not just in the game against us.
My instinct is he is rushing too much, feeling he needs to score to prove himself having been injured, out of favour and buggering off to Sheff U. Competition for places is good, but I actually wonder whether it is counting against us slightly presently.
Some of the contributors to this thread are simply too impatient; I point them to a certain striker signed in the summer of 2011 at Selhurst Park who scored 6 times in 38 appearances last season.

Nice haircut, nice touch in midfield, nice link up play.........unfortunately.........

Couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo in front of goal. I wanted him to have a chance, and he has, but lets get him shipped out back to Div 1/2 where missing chances is not the difference between 3/1 points.

Pissed off as we should have been 2 up at h/t.

Hang on. The guy has played 2 proper games of football, if that and already you are slating him?

He played well today. We were less of a threat when he went off.

He just needs a goal.

Ok, I'll take the bait.

How exactly is missing chances in "Div 1/2" not the difference between 3/1 points? I'm confused as to what's different there and how that works exactly?

Hoskins has had a terrible time with injuries and is clearly still on the way back. He clearly hasn't had anywhere near enough chances to prove himself yet. Time should be allowed to tell whether or not he can prove himself at this level - he was outstanding at Bristol Rovers and that game against us down there clearly clinched the deal for Gus.

WTF was the Hollywood style scissor kick all about?

LOFT is the problem IMO

What's Doug got to do with any of this?

It was called trying to connect with a ball coming at speed on your right hand side at hip height. Any attempt to control would have meant being closed down hence trying to hit it first time. Thought he was unlucky with that one as he just couldn't shape his body in time to deal with it.

Other than the poor volley in the second half his other chances just did not fall correctly for him.

CMS and hoskins scored 55+ goals between them a couple of seasons ago, they have only just now been given the chance to finally play together.. Give them a little more time.

This. Play CMS and Hoskins again on Tuesday.

Am fully expecting one of Barnes or Dobbie to replace Hoskins though.

Based on what, three or four starts? Do you even know how football works?

3 or 4 starts, shit loads of injuries and a dire loan spell in the league below.

Absolute joke of a signing
