Horse Racing boozers - Brighton

Afternoon All.

With the 5.15 KO on Saturday, that gives me the perfect opportunity to settle down in front of the Tellybox downing copious amounts of premier strength lager whilst gambling away in front of Cheltenham races (and Doncaster but lets brush over that filler). Ideally, I'd like to do this at a juicer in Brighton but have lost touch with whats what as I now live away.

Unfortunately, Saturday afternoons normally have pubs showing dodgy satellite feeds from Abu Dhabi with Man city thumping 4 past Wigan, or worse, Phil Thompson on Sky Sports news wanking himself silly over a throw in to Liverpool against Bolton.

Are there any pubs which tend to show racing uninterupted?

Thankyou please.

Think that the Railway Bell (if its still called that?) shows the racing outside Brighton station.

I ask, as I thought The Engineer was a fine nags pub but they have since gone down the footy road. If not then all well and good.

The Bow Street Runner will have the Racing on Teletext. Or The Branch will have it on via Racing UK and ATR

The Seafield in Hove is your place mate. It is devoted to the Horse Racing and I am sure it will have the game on after. There are a lot of , shall we say, colourful characters in there.

The Engineer do show footy as they have a few screens and Sky Sports, but its choc full of horse racing memorabilia, and still was as of a couple of weeks ago when I was last in.

Splendid. We will give it a go.

I like US recommendation of the Seafield especially some of the reviews on yelp which suggest that there is a pub quiz on entry of (a) Do you want some and (b) What are you looking at? which is exactly my kind of pub. As, however, we are off to the game, drinking near London Rd makes more sense. Hopefully Grand Crus runs.

Is the correct answer.
Read the reviews on Beer in the Evening (or a similar site as can't remember which one) so you know what to expect.

Is this Michael Owen doing some research ?

Ha. Funnily enough, A friend of a friend etc knows Owens best mate. None of us have touched the 7/4. In fact I wouldn't touch 100-1.

The Seafield is the only pub I have found that is devoted to the Horse Racing. All the people in there love it, they all get involved and Sledge does what Sledge does. Lots of EI EI's when a Horse comes in. The Landlord is mad for it, as is everyone else. He puts sandwiches and bar snack out for free. The other pubs mentioned just happen to have the Racing on in the background. I reckon the OP is missing out if he does not go to Hove and try The Seafield.
