It is beyond reasonalbe doubt,that there was a 'holocaust'. 99% of us now it took place however i find it disturbing to make it a crime to try to deny the events took place.

I think it's wrong to make it a crime here (or for it to be a crime in Germany for that matter) because the holocaust was the persecution of a group of people for their belief, and yet the result of this legislation would be to persecute those whose belief it is that it didn't happen.

I have not read Irving but I have read a lot of other stuff. The thing about Holocaust denial is its political implications. Its no accident that a holocaust denial conference was held in Iran

On the one hand, you are setting a precident for jailing people for their beliefs.
On the other, these people know FAIR WELL it took place and are using these theories to further certain political agendas.
Therefore JAIL them.

Well quite, it's just one more tool in the box for certain people to attack Jewry, Israel, Zionism or whatever they want to call it. I'm torn between laughing at their sheer ignorance because of the overwhelming evidence saying it did happen, or really being quite scared that they can still be so seemingly adamant that it didn't happen despite all the evidence to the contrary.
Take this man for example. He's just been allowed back into the Catholic Church, and I'm not sure whether to laugh at him or be truly frightened by him.

Wasn't Dachau alledged to be an 'extermination camp' until the mid-Sixties
when it was then decreed that all such camps were actually in Poland??!!
