Although the manager/bar teender (bit of a joker) said in a Greek acent...."football....Crystal Palace is my team" oh how I chuckled.....failing to mention the 5-0, or any other abuse as this guy had to serve me ice cold largers all week. Made waering the stripes all the more special....even if he didn't understand!

Had 2 weeks in Northern Cyprus back in July, fantastic place, really unspoilt, fantastic scenery, not even comparable with the south, thouroughly reccomended to those of you who want a bit of culture with your sun sea and whatever.

I enjoy Southern Cyprus have been twice to date and going back next year.

I have wanted to go to the Northern side, but heard rumours that if you have a Turkish stamp on your passport the Greek Cypriots will not let you enter the southern side.

Is this true ?

No it's not, my brother lives in the south so I make frequent visits to both sides. There was a time when the south said they would not let anyone in with a northern stamp but then the first time I went to the south they stamped my passport on the same page as my stamp from the TRNC.

If you do go on holiday to the North they will give you a piece of paper as a visa which they stamp, this ensures that your passport is not stamped, they're pretty helpfull really.

And it is also a falsehood that the north is a military state, there is a lot of propaganda given out by the Greeks, all I say is, next time you're in the South, get yourself over the border at Nicosia and get a cab (or take your hire car) to Kyrenia, the northern port, have the best lunch of your holiday, it is wonderfull. The people are really helpful, genuinley pleased to have you there, and you'll end up going back.
