If you have a season ticket for the railways and have London all zones ie R 1 to 6, that covers your journey for watford up to Harrow and Wealdstone.

I was advided by this very lovelly lady in Bombay ( mumbai???) that I would have to buy a cheap day return from Harrow to watford and back for £3.00.

So there you are. Watford on the 8:55 and back on the 18:15 poss all for £3 squids.........not counting the £3200 I pay a year for my season ticket

I looked on the net for the price from Bton - Watford for 4 Adults and 1 child(£87.50)

Went into Shoreham station and got tickets cheaper from Shoreham-Watford than Bton. Total cost £34.80

Just goes to show the internet is not always cheaper.

Have they got Oyster card readers at Watford?

Those things are just a license to say "honest - its paid for for zones 1-6. I just need a wee extension"

The Oyster Card Thing is a bit of a problem when you get on the outskirts. I'm only 1 & 2, but have always got pre pay on there in case I go out of zone.

If there's no card reader at the other end, you are liable for a penalty fare even though you've effectively "pre-paid".

This only affects the rail network - but its annoying.

Sorry for this who don't know the hell I'm on about...

With my season ticket, I can also buy return tickets for the kids for £1 each, so it looks like a fiver for the three of us. Just hope it stays pay on the day, as I haven't got match tickets yet!

Ive got a bit of a scam on where I use my oyster to get me through the barriers in zone one, and have cheap returns on the network rail side.

Another trick is to go to the booth, tell the guy that your card will get you to zone 5, but you need an excess fare to zone 6. They never cheque the card....

Tis sneaky, and a pain in the arse, but saves me £80 a month!

You get cheap travelcards if you buy in advance of the date you travel - not always advertised on the internet.
