How do you think that the club got into so much financial trouble in the first place??? - The players that we had in the early 80's when we were in the old First Div were offered some ridiculous contracts!

OT ALERT

We were down in Southampton yesterday and after dropping BAG off, we went to the West Quay shopping emporium...as you do.

Its absolute shite

The M&S was badly layed out....there were lots of strange people in red and white striped shirts loping around and millions of chav women.

The Oriana looked good in Southampton harbour though

Fozzie was on £2000 pw over 20 years ago!!!

That seems rather high because I KNOW that Gary Stevens left to go to Tottenham because they offered him £1250 per week. Then again that was the start of the money problems at this club because Mike Bamber paid high wages which carried on into Div 2 when we got relegated.

My father in law is on the Oriana for his 4 month cruise - that means he won't be spouting off about Reading FC until April at the very least:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Fozzie was paid £70,000 in the year we went down, and that was in the club accounts at the time (it had to be disclosed under Companies Act rules).

Michael Robinson has been quoted as saying he was the highest paid player in the COUNTRY when at the Albion in 1982/3

It was quoted in the Argus at the time - and don't forget Fozzie was Club captain and an England International

It maybe average for this division but every club has its own budget, not every club can afford to pay all their players anything like that kind of salary.

sure, obviously most (maybe all) of the team will be below the average, though I dont think its out the question that Henderson could demand an average wage for the division

It's amazing that we managed to last after those contracts were dished out

That's what my wife said last night when I staggered home from the casino at 2am with a bunch of flowers, a nurse's uniform and a pleading look in my eye

Is it true that Tank's sat-nav has the address of EVERY KFC in Europe, and he only has to visit 3 more before he has eaten in all of them?

Is it demanding or asking and then like a car sale or purchase the negotiations start to get to a realistic figure that is acceptable to all. Perhaps this is why you read so manty times of transfers falling through because 'they couldnt agree personnal terms' agents etc are asking too much for the clubs to be able to afford.

I guess that the agents go in high and the clubs go in low and then meet in the middle, hopefully, but agents are on a percentage of a players contract so they always want more! A straightforward contract doesnt need an agent, we know players who have been ripped off by them too. Most chairmen hate dealing with them cos they complicate things too much, but at the end of the day its up to the player to decide whether to take whats on offer.

They no longer do those Chinese takeway boxes for £2.99 or 5 for a tenner. Great idea and most of the stuff was good except the Beef in Black Bean Sauce which tasted more like Beef in Baked Bean Sauce.
