I bought my laptop in Florida. Hash instead of a pound sign. So changed it in Control panel as suggested and now I have a pound sign. £££££. Hurrah!

Press Left Alt and Left Shift. That'll sort you out.

cheers, my friend found a way to sort it out by google-ing it but it didn't work
