Taking my wife and youngest daughter (13 years old) to New York last week in October.
Definitely visiting Ground Zero but help would be much appreciated from anyone who can advise on decent standard hotels in Manhattan area.
Also, how would we get to where Los Peladitos play? Gareth, can you help on this please?
Thanks for any response,
Tony....

The Roosevelt was very plush and quite reasonably priced. Los Peladitos play at Flushing Meadows. I can give you their contact details if you want to visit them, usually Saturday/Sunday mornings.

I'm going to New York on October 23rd to October 27th. Look out for loads of stripes in the big apple then.

Staying at the Pennsylvania which is on 7th Avenue NY

I stayed in this one in March of this year, the millenium UN Plaza right by the UN building in NY. It was about £110 a night 4 star in midtown Manhatton. I would recommened it to anyone especially with the 28th Floor Swimming pool with views of the city in each direction. Ask for a high floor if you book it as all rooms have been renovated and the views are spectacular.

What an unbelievable response.
Many thanks to everyone for info so far. When I get the hotel booked, I'll post where and then when we're over there, I'll look out for anyone else wearing the stripes.

I'd recommend the New York Hilton ... 6 blocks down from Central Park. If you really want to spoil yourselves, go for a club level suite ... includes free contintental breakfast and a 2 hour pre-dinner 'manager's reception' ... free nibbles and as much alcohol as you can drink.

First time we were there, went for a walk round Central Park on Sunday morning and met a bloke wearing a 'Seagulls' T-shirt  7,000 miles to meet someone who lives 7 :censored: miles away.

Not Luton! Thank God
I'd reccomend the Roger Williams Hotel on Madison Avenue. It's in midtown. Smallish rooms but decor is lovely. Also free coffee all day and night and free continental breakfast.

Check out expedia for good rates. I got it 3 nights for the price of two,

I stayed at an uptown hotel called the Newton (IIRC). Good value, nice hotel and right across the street from a subway station.

Gareth, the contact details would be much appreciated. With the amount of shopping my wife and daughter anticipate doing, I'm not certain of getting the time to meet with any of the Los Peladitos people, but I will certainly try.
Thanks for your help.

Ive stayed there, huge place right next to pen station and madison square garden, a bit shabby ( showing its age inside, furniture/rooms etc), but very central and only 5 mins from Empire State.............. you definitely need to go to Soho, great shopping, and if you want a great meal experience... go to an area called Curry Street ( 6th st between 2nd and 3rd Ave.... a whole street of Indian restaurants, but with a real authentic feel, guys playing live indian music.... cheesy lights etc etc... a must if you like indian food.
