a friend of mine is a director at a league club and was saying yesterday that although they have three potential deals agreed for one player needed there wont be any movement before next Thursday when one or none of them might happen. This is down to clubs not being prepared to commit to letting someone go until the last minute and players holding out for the best deal for them.

Isn't out there on an ex-Internationals tournament or something? I don't believe it's a jolly.

Surely Gus would have drawn up a list of potential strikers and club representatives will be trying to sign these while he is away !

Please don't put logic into this thread. It ruins it for many.

Most people don't seem to understand how a football club actually operates and thinks it's like a game of Football Manager.

Manager draws up a list, chief exec and chairmen work down the list until they get one in.

Isn't tn't that exactly what the great Brazil teams of the 70's used to do when they needed a new superstar. Look down the beach.

Just changing the subject. I just think if I Had 7/8 days (Or games In Gus case) until the end of my working qtr to reach my targets and I decided to have a Jolly in Barbados my boss would hit the roof. Supposing for a sec we don't find a new striker.. will anyone question it then? I Have never said he's a bad manager I love the bloke

If we don't get a striker in it won't be BECAUSE Gus is on a beach. How tinpot do you think we are?!

Agree why does everyone think that Gus runs the club / business. He is 1st team manager and that is all. If he goes our structure remains FFS FFS FFS

Would a LOAN cover us up until the playoff final yet?

I'm not even going to pretend I know the rules?

but I would of thought it makes more sense to leave it until the end of the International break to confirm anyway.

Gus does not sign players himself, there are people that do that for him on his agreed targets.

End of thread.

I do agree BUT it is also the case that Gus has been a big part of attracting players to our club such as Vicente, Bruno, Bridge etc and IF we are looking for a premier leauge striker perhaps, and just perhaps a personal meeting with Gus may have swung it. Anyway I seem to be in the minority in my thinking. I consider myself well and truly corrected.
