Its his choice not to vote. So you worried about the BNP vote then :)

I find it ridiculous that people don't vote. It's a right that isn't really appreciated properly in this country. Without making a point of the BNP it is annoying when you hear people talking about how much they can't stand their views but then don't go and vote for someone else. What a load of bollocks.

And yes, I am a worried about the BNP. I'm worried that any political party that has a holocaust denier for a leader (we don't need to go over that again) would ever have ANY influence on the way the world is run.

I was told by an australian friend about an incident. They had an american comedian on some sort of political/comedy news tv show thing (I guess something along the lines of have I got news for you). The american was shocked to learn that if you get fined if you don't vote in australia.

American: "If you don't vote you get a fine for $200?!"
Australian comedian: "Yeah, and if you don't vote you get George Bush"

Strangely I agree with you. You hear everyday people moaning about the state of the country. Ask if they are going to vote and they say they can't be bothered.

I agree totally, and I believe you shold vote for who you want to WIN the election. Strategic voting is simply a lie. I won't vote for someone just to dilute another parties numbers.
The current political fiasco in this country, coupled with the even worse situation with the sactimonious MEPs expenses system, makes the thought of voting for any of them sickening to me.
I won't be voting BNP either, but I won't vote against them with a vote I do not believe in.
I might take a look at the local elections, but those parties just ignore the area I live in, whole heartedly. They are not going to make a difference to my life, other than taking more and more local taxes from me, whilst providing a poorer and poorer service where I live.

All in all, I stand by my opinion, each and every one of them is scum, they have done nothing to convince me otherwise. There may be decent politicians somewhere, but so far I have seen no evidence whatsoever of their existance.

I found the NSC voting intentions thread yesterday really interesting - the Greens were top by a mile. Now that must send out a message to all the parties....

Does anyone know if there's any information about the candidates at the polling centre. I really want to vote, but have no idea who the nominees are, what their policies are, etc.

Under this system, you vote for a party, not an individual. The party will then choose one of their nominees for that area.

Superphil no party is perfect. You don't have to agree 100% in their policies. There is quite a bit I diagree with the BNP. I don't even like Griffin but they are the closest to what I believe

Superphil no party is perfect. You don't have to agree 100% in their policies.

I think I should agree pretty much 100% on their policies if they are going to have something as valuable as MY vote. On top of that, the individuals that make up the party also has to be worthy of MY vote.
Currently, and for the past 10 years or so, politicians have managed to distance themsevles from me so much, that I simply cannot justify giving any of them the steam off my piss, let alone my vote.
You may feel inclined to vote BNP, and if that is what you want to do, then do so, I will think no less of you.
I personally would have voted Monster Raving Loony Party, as I believe in the words of S Lord Sutch,

I have come to change the government, not to praise it.
There is nothing more monstrous than politicians.

How apt given current times...

Sadly they are not standing around here.

As a footnote, who said:

"It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonoured by your contempt for all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice;

ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government;

ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage…

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you?

Is there one vice you do not possess?

Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your god; which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes?…

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; ye were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, and are yourselves gone…

In the name of God, go!"

If you don't vote you can't moan about the outcome?!? What bollox. My right ot vote extends to the right NOT to vote. I'm not going to vote for someone just to give myself the right to moan If I don't like or agree with any of them. By not voting along with many others I directly affect the result by ensuring a low turn-out which the main parties all dislike. I'm making my political point buy not voting therefore it is not wasted and i am entitled to moan just like everyone else. If you want to vote for someone you don't really want to then you are a mug.

I have just been and voted, I have always considered it my duty to do so, many of my forefathers generations gave their lives to ensure that we live in a free and democratic state and by exercising my democratic right it pays tribute to their efforts...that said, it is a pity that our politicians often fail to repay our trust.
