Has music really come to THIS?

It's scary to think that this is in the US and UK charts at the current time.

Was wondering when this would surface on here. I remember watching it when the views were still in the hundreds.

In answer to your question - no, you're wrong in my opinion.

The CHARTS has descended to this because quite frankly, the charts are now irrelevant, certainly the singles charts. Album charts still have a certain relevance but not so much. More so than ever, the charts represents the tastes of a very narrow demographic, typically 12-18 year olds.

As a complete and utter music anorak I'd say music has never been in ruder health as now. Trouble is you have to go and look for it rather than be spoonfed what the mainstream radio stations want you to listen to.

Sorry Wozza, I think of you lot as being old and out of touch with internet culture.

I would say singles charts have been irrelevant, as far as quality is concerned, for nearly 30 years now.

I'm so old I cannot bear to listen to Radio 1 longer than it takes me to hit the off switch. Dj's used to be cool and laid back, everytime I hear Radio 1 it seems everyone is shouting all the time, even when talking about mundane things.... and then there's the music.

I agree entirely with this view, meaning that some good musicians will never get the publicity or fame they deserve. Sad.

Same old nonsence. Don't think many of today's chart toppers will be around in 30 years. Where have all the decent song writers gone? On the otherhand, if it makes some people happy it's OK with me. If I don't like it I don't listen to it again.

Not listen to radio one since I was 13 (27yrs ago), always used CD's and now MP3's, must have something to do with my hatred of popular music!!

In 30 years time it will probably be viewed as a classic of it's genre.

Under your skin.
As Wozza pointed out, I posted this 2 weeks ago.

Most people are buying it for the lulz, not for musical value...
