My friend is looking to buy a new BBQ for the summer and would like some feedback from people who have one

(And no, he's never used a charcoal BBQ)

Cheers !

And then they'll take it higher?

Got one last year. Its no more less authentic than a gas BBQ, when compared to a charcoal. I'm not a BBQ person so bought out ease of doing a BBQ for the 2 / 3 times a summer that I get an urge to have one. I've probably used it 4 times so far. Plugged in to an outside socket to the rear of the house. Paid very little but looks way more impressive than it actually is. If you are a BBQ connoisseur, then electric may not hit the mark.

Absolutely, more for ease of use on the odd occasion

Not a bbq as such, but we recently got an electric Ninja Grill and Smoker Woodfire Oven to use when we CBA the Weber charcoal jobbie. Have used it 3 times so far and only cooked simple stuff. Initial impressions are promising though.

Got a ninja smoker, it’s brilliant. Not the same as a bbq but gives you more control especially for inexperienced cooks. A bbq can heat meat like a train whilst the ninja smoker gives you lower temp control.

I have a traditional brick charcoal BBQ, a Weber gas BBQ and an electric Ninja Woodfire Grill & Smoker (yet to be tried, but probably this weekend). If there’s a crowd of us, it’s always charcoal, but if just the two of us, one of the other options.
