Harvey's will never sponsor BHA. They are far too Lewes.

But BHA fans sure sponsor Harvey's ...............except for O'Magners drinking Buck.

Probably right, but when I've asked Harvey's to donate prizes for 40 Notes or REMF stuff, the sales manager always obliges, saying 'We're more than happy to help out the Albion'.

The main point about any sponsorship is that Harvey's probably don't need to do it, unless they were looking to go to the next stage of development, and take on the likes of Fullers or Greene King. Colloquially, the sell everything the brew, and they brew pretty much at capacity.

Harveys is solvent and profitable - that means that there's no impetus to sell. Just because they're small, it doesn't mean that they have to be taken over.

King & Barnes were also solvent and profitable. It was just that the King family didn't hold the majority of the shares so when the antichrist from Dorchester came calling with their pieces of silver that was the end for Festive, Old etc and White Shield Worthington.

Harveys does NOT taste like shit. It may be more of a challenge to keep than that smoothflow bilge but there are plenty of landlords that can manage to do it very succesfully.

And I'm glad it hasn't turned into some bland nationally available arse dribble like Greene King IPA or the abomination that Boddingtons has become.

And as for not supporting the Albion, what were those 'bring home the Albion' bottles I still have the labels from then???

Lets be honest, Greene King would at least get Harveys on the map and getting it away from the Ouse might improve the taste.

Thank god it's not just me then ! I like a beer and although lived in sunny Worthing all my life I have never taken to Harveys... there seems to be a polarisation of either far too hoppy or no hops at all ?

Of the local(ish) brewers, King and Barnes were poor apart from Festive, Dark Star fairly good usually, but, the best is Gales HSB.. sadly taken over, but the beer still is right up in my top 5 of all time !

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

P.S. I type this while quaffing an ice cold Chimay Blue !!!

Fuller's HSB, as served in THe Basketmakers' Arms is rather pleasant, albiet more as a winter ale.

You could say the same about Morland. Or Brakspear or many others.

But I don't think that Harveys has the same problems - if Miles doesn't want to sell, he doesn't have to.

Doing OK? The company has a net worth of £29 million.

Forgive my ignorance on all things financial, but does that also include all the land, properties etc, owned by them.

people slagging off harveys - blasphermy

The naming rights for Falmer are still up for grabs..

I rather like the sound of the "Harvey's South Down Harvet Ale" Stadium

Any chance of them being encouraged to produce one of their Celebration Ales to mark the openig game at Falmer?????

Celebration Beers
Many of these beers were conceived as Celebration Beers with no plans to continue brewing them regularly. Harveys is always open to new brewing opportunities - so if you or your organisation wishes to celebrate a particular event our Brewing Team would be pleased to discuss the logistics.

The brewery can now produce short lengths of bespoke beers to suit individual needs thanks to our recently installed micro brewing plant
