I hate Harveys - tastes like dishwater to me. To be honest, none of the drinks on sale at the Amex are what I'd like to drink. I'd love a proper cider, but that seems unlikely.

Totally Bollocks, JS is not a real ale, it's not from sussex and I think if I were forced, I'd drink larger instead. But no-one is forcing me, so I won't bother drinking anymore.

This may well be down to cost.

If you buy a polypin (36 pints) it costs about £75 delivered - most local micro breweries will sell adequate substitutes for £20 less.

Those figures are way out. Even if we accept that there are 3,000 real ale drinkers, to say that 2500 would drink a cream flow style bitter instead is simply not true. So far on this thread we have seen no one say that they would be happy to drink John Smiths or similar. One thing is for certain us real ale drinkers are a vocal and stubborn lot and the 3,000 of us would drag all of our mates out of the Amex to go somewhere where we can get a 'proper' pint.

Well if it's a smooth flow there'd be a massive head on it for a start and would be a completely different colour, then it would have the consistency of spunk and the taste of old tyres. I'd hope at least 5% would notice.

If it's a JS 'bitter' it would just taste of the above but flat.

Actually I am off the booze at the moment in an effort to shift some weight before the season starts and the drinking gets going again.

My Albion Harvey's was just about the only 'regular' pint or 2, I've drunk for quite a while.
If I could lay off bread, Frosties and Haribo as easily, Greenpeace wouldn't be so eager to push me into the sea.

Not true mate, as I just said, I'm sure it out sells or almost out sells lager, almost everyone around me in the concourse is on it. I'd say your more like pissing off 4-5000 fans, not 500.

As you've said, it's not like JS, so why compare it then?

I've gotta be honest here. This would seriously impact on my match day experience. I love drinking Harvey's at the Amex. It's more than just a beer, it's something that symbolises sussex for me. I am literally eating and drinking sussex whilst watching the Albion! Just getting excited pre match and a few beers as I'm looking out at the hills that provide the water and barley that I'm drinking, a beer that's made only a mile or so away.
It's just so unthinkable that Barber would allow this, that I refuse to believe it.
IF it were true, I would not enjoy matches at the Amex as much, I therefore would have to think about whether I want to continue being a STH.

Not sure I'd go that far but it certainly makes the stadium 'special' for me. I drink Harveys at the stadium but most other cask ales elsewhere as there's so many delicious options.

Yes, though the alternatives are just as onerous. Woodpecker, Bulmers and Symond's are Heineken's other 'ciders'.

Having just checked it would appear that they have recently relaunched Scrumpy Jack too, which is not too bad I think, extremely unlikely that they are going to be selling 5.5% cider at the football though.
