Well, as I said, I see it as a straight choice between Currie and Hart. What I do think is wrong is if these players play for us in our friendlies with no guarantee of a new contract, as a) they're admitting they can't get a deal elsewhere, and b) they're screwed if Micky says he doesn't want them. As Hart has said on this thread he has other offers, I don't see why he'd run the risk of basically a 'trial' with us.

Because he bleeds blue and white that's why.

Brighton has been his life for 10 years now and he wants to stay. I have done something similar regarding a job before and was lucky to get a better contract moving within a company when i was within 1/2 hour of being made redundant

I reiterate, say NO to Hart, if he's just gonna be a Squad player then bring up the youth to do that job. We have brought up plenty of decent youngsters in recent years so no need to stop now for a 30-something past it player who wont get in the first team squad!

If we are serious about pushing for a play off place then we should never be offering contracts to players likem Gary Hart.

Presumably other factors come into it, such as not wanting to uproot a family, and wanting to get the best possible wage.

I also find it odd that people are particularly pro Butters when he is about on here, but some people are just willing to slate Hart so he reads it. Seems a bit odd when the player has done so much for us.

Personally, i'm willing to trust Adams judgement on him.

Different TYPES of player, I agree. But they'd both be after the same POSITION. If you presume McLeod is going to be our left-midfielder this season, that leaves Cox on the right. Do you think we could then also fit Hart AND Currie in? That's why I say it's either/or. One of them to compete with Cox is fine, but there's no room for both.

Mmmm...not really. With the best will in the world, if we're resorting to OGH on the right wing next season, even as cover, then we are not really going to be serious contenders for the top 6. Frankly, whether Currie signs or not, I'm really struggling to think of a role for Hart next season.

"Bleeding blue and white" is not a reason to hand out another contract.
