That is good, I must admit I had a brain storm a forgot about them being in the EUFA cup for the past 3 years and thought that their last time was during the 199/00 season.
The first ever British winners of a European competition, I think I am correct, The Cup Winners Cup in Rotterdam..

Just counted up. It's 6, not 7. Yeah, we played Zimbru (Moldova) and Kaiserlauten (Germany) in 99.

Spurs won easily,as expected.
But what about the stomach lurching commentary.
An endless list of Spurs "greats" who never played in the European Cup,going back to the early sixties when they last qualified.
No mention that in most of that time a team had to be CHAMPIONS to enter.Now coming fourth and beating some Young Boys is enough to bring out the drivel.
Any one brave enough to back Spurs to win this competition?
With a lot of luck and a following wind they might qualify for the knockout stages - and I hope they do - but tonights"experts" seemed to have them down as world beaters,whereas I suspect they will not be in the top four "champions" spots this time around.

From the fifth minute, when spurs took the lead they were qualifying for the champions league proper. This was made all the more certain with the second and third goal.
The fourth gave Crouch only the second hat trick in the european cup for spurs ever. Nice, so do the commentators go on about this rare hat trick achievement? No.
Instead they make out like not only is the fourth goal responsible for putting them in the champions league, but by the sounds of the commentators raving over it, that goal has pretty much won them the champions league trophy already.
By all means, rave over a rare hat trick, but over the goal itself as they did was just a bit too much.
That Gareth Bale has got quite GOOD, hasn't he?

You have to say Redknapp has done a superb job at Tottenham. He's a breath of fresh air amid so much Premiership bollocks. I know the rumours but his next role should be as the England coach. Interesting to see we now have three London based sides in the Champions League, that must be a first.
