Fairly swift justice system in Greece. Wouldn't happen in GB (or Germany). Just hope due diligence has been done. To commit a crime, be arrested, charged, and tried within 5 days?

You are just parroting the defence case as if it's fact. It may be, it may not be. The truth is usually somewhere in between.
In this case (where a multi millionaire with resource to the best legal representation is involved) it's sensible to take everything with a large handful of salt.
He wanted to leave Greece as quickly as possible, which the Greek lawyer engaged by Manure arranged after two nights in custody for Maguire.
Once this is all chip paper, I envisage the Maguire entourage partying anywhere but Greece in future.

The defence team red herrings include the fear the Maguire crew had that Albanian kidnappers were abducting them from their limo transport. After watching Taken once too often, Sheffield’s hardest beat the Albanians up.
The one snag, they were Greek police.
What a cracking, cheese fest of a film that is. Well, all of them actually.
I don't believe a ****ing word of Maguire's defence. But I do think he'll get the conviction overturned after lots of money changes hands.
I skipped out the last time I was about to go to court as well. Too lazy so I just left it to my lawyer.
When I met him at his office we talked about solar panels for 30 minutes before I had to ask him: "why are we talking about this?" and he asked me "are you not getting sued about a solar panel patent?"
At the end I just got a 5000 kronor fine for smuggling 60 bottles of vodka from Germany and I'm pretty happy about it as that solar panel shit probably would have been quite expensive.

Should have got Man United's lawyers involved. You'd have been compensated for the travel expenses and been made official landlord of Old Trafford.
