According to Sky:

"Maguire's lawyer Alexis Anagnostakis told the court in Syros that two Albanian men had approached Maguire's sister Daisy - who fainted immediately after being injected with an unknown substance."

To be fair, if there's any truth in this statement that's incredibly unpleasant and you can understand an angry reaction. If true, of course.

I'm going to take a punt that the CCTV didnt capture that

Another report says she was poked in the arm with a metal straw, presumably from some naff ludicrously priced cocktail. Anything to shine a positive light on Hero Harry eh? Same PR firm as punchy cricketer Ben Stokes anybody?

Surely it’s a daft defence as there would be clinical evidence if she’d reported the ‘injection’ to the Greek police  Strikes me as a bit of a desperate claim IMO, the lawyer may have asked Maguire if his sister was clinically assessed afterwards and if she wasn’t thats a ‘hole’ for the defence to exploit.

Just seen, Maguire said ‘do you know who I am’ to police during the incident, how predictable :lolol:

If he's made that up to save his skin, which should be provable, he is a despicable man and I wouldn't want to see him ever play for England again.

If it's true, then it's a reasonable defence against an assault charge

No, he's proved himself to be a very good England manager. He will pick from whoever is available and he feels fits in with his system the best.

Wrong thread but total bollocks. It’s the same England we’ve always been, the much vaunted World Cup run where we beat the mighty Panama, Sweden and Tunisia, drew with Colombia and lost against the 2 good teams we played. Southgate clearly has his favourites when it comes to squad picking as well.

The judge has deliberated and made his decision.
