I quite like the idea of that. With two defensive type players in the center, it would be almost like a 4-2-4

Its an impossibility to imagine Ronaldo defending, but Giggs can and does. And in the middle they'd have two watchers, workers and passers as 4 raggedly patrol for opportunity up front.
I do hate Utd, but be nice if they attack and threaten Chelsea.

I don't know if that would work really. Rooney likes to come deep to get the ball. It needs a classic centre forward that Scholes can thread balls through to and who Giggs and Ronaldo can pick out with crosses

I think I'd almost rather read algie and oceanic's racist hatemail than all this premiershite stuff. I never thought I'd see the day when people on NSC are merrily discussing the highs and lows of the Manure line-up.

i'd have it more like that, with carrick dropping back and neville and hinze coming forward into the space left by the wingers when attacking.

*edit* f*** sake, it sends everything to the left, that looks shit now

Bollocks, I was hoping they'd signed Jack, without knowing he'd died years ago.

I heard he used to play for Huddersfield, but was so crap that the fans wanted him 'Out Of Town', but 'How'?

Jack Hargreaves, sorry, I mean Owen Hargreaves would be an excellent signing for United and it would be good to see more of what he could do in this country on a regular basis.

14:39 16Aug2006 RTRS-Soccer-Hargreaves not for sale, say Bayern

BERLIN, Aug 16 (Reuters) - German champions Bayern Munich reiterated on Wednesday that they would not sell Owen Hargreaves after the England midfielder was quoted as saying he was mulling an offer from Manchester United.
"Hargreaves is not a subject of discussion," said Bayern manager Uli Hoeness. "Owen has a contract until 2010 and he will complete it. That means the issue is closed."
Canadian-born Hargreaves, 25, was quoted as saying on Wednesday by German magazine Sport Bild that there had been an offer from Manchester United and it was "simply fantastic".
"It's interesting for me especially as an England player and you never know whether the opportunity will come along again," he told the magazine.
Hargreaves, voted England's best player at the World Cup finals, in a poll by the Football Association.
He has been at Bayern since joining the club as a teenager in 1997 and his current contract runs through June 2010.
Sport Bild said without naming the source that Manchester United would offer as much as 25 million euros ($32 million) for Hargreaves and that English clubs Arsenal and Tottenham were also interested.
"To play (for Manchester United) is a great opportunity and I would be happy if I got that chance," Sport Bild quoted the player as saying. England play Greece in a friendly in Manchester later on Wednesday with Hargreaves taking on the holding role in the centre of midfield.

Carrick is no defensive midfielder. He's a ball-player who patrols and sprays and rarely marauds. He cannot run. Hargreaves can and does. He'll hassle and menace, while Carrick picks things up and moves play forward.
