i think the team they play for is irrelevent!

ok upson - birmingham
campbell - arsenal

?

id prefer upson, u dont base a selection on the team they play for, its based on the players own ability

I agree with upson, arsenal will rue the day they let him go!!!

And no, you do not base selection on the team they play for, but in the hargreaves v sinclair situation, it just falls into place!!

I think what CTS is/was trying to say was that if sinclair was better than hargreaves, then he would be the one at Bayern Munich or somewhere with equivelent superiority and not hargreaves.

Indeed, Wenger made a major f*** up there, even when he was at arsenal and out on loan everyone knew he would be the nuts in a couple of years. WOuld've solved a lot of wengers defensive problems.

As for Hargreaves and Sinclair. well its kind of a one horse race if you ask me Hargreaves is top class, sinclair simply isn't end of story.

Hargreaves or Sinclair? If you're talking right back - Hargreaves. If you're talking right wing-back - Hargreaves. If you're talking right midfield - Hargreaves.

I think Hargreaves is the most under-rated player in the current England set-up. Thankfully for us he doesn't play in the Losers' Paradise (aka the Premiership) but instead he's been well groomed by Bayern Munich. He can defend, tackle and pass with vision; after Beckham he'd be the second name on my teamsheet.

Too right.

Hargreaves for me. I've whated a bit of the Bundasliga these last couple of years and he is often outstanding.

That should have said "watched" not "whated" I've gone to pot since seeing the "one for the lads" thread.

I don't know what games you've been watching brighton_b0y but when I've seen Hargreaves play for England he's always been consistently good. Not outstanding by any means; he's not as exciting as Owen or Beckham but he does a consistently good job.

Granted Sinclair is more attack-minded, but there's more to international football than just running around like a headless chicken and giving the ball away.

Just to add you do have a point about his nationality though, he's certainly less English than Lewis but a lot more than that tennis player (can't spell his name, begins with 'R').

Still under that criteria John Barnes was Jamaican and Terry Butcher was Chinese!

ok sinclair is good! but i felt sinclair fitted in better in a england squad that doesnt have many flair players that can make something from nothing! thats my opinion!

When England were world beatingly sh1t for the 1st 40 mins versus Slovakia, SGE bought Hargreaves on for Mills and England's defence suddenly became solid. He should be first choice right back IMHO.
