Tells you alot about both the fans of this club and the Chairmen over the years. Neither have any patience, and if I were someone looking at the Brighton job, I would think very carefully.A new stadium is close now, but that has only made a new mans job harder, with expectation running at an all time high.

Any new Manager needs to be given a decent time to build a team. He may not want some of the players only recently brought in by Slade. However, the Albion crowd seem to be increasingly fickle and inpatient.

Look at some other examples of clubs with new stadium (Darlington, Oxford, Huddersfield) to name just a few. It does not guarantee success, but a bit of consistancy in the Management department quite often does.

The next appointment is one of the most important in the clubs recent history, and if Bloom cannot get the right person/team, we could easily go the way of some of those teams I mentioned earlier.

The new man will be the 12th 'permanent' manager of BHA in the past 12 years. :nono:

No, it isn't is it!?

Look at some of the dross Knight appointed.

Hopefully, Tony Bloom will find us a top quality Manager, who is able of to bring about his, and my, wished to see Brighton & Hove Albion play at a higher level without being the whipping boys, and one we can be proud to support again!

I will give this new man 10 games :jester:

I don't agree!

He should have untill the end of this season if we cannot get a "top" manager, or be required to average at least 1.5 points per game over a 10 game cycle, if he fails, then bring in the next one!

Sorry, but that looks like you DO agree... he should be measured over a 10 game cycle??

Anyway, I think it says a lot about the club that over 12 years either managers have walked away when they've been slightly successful, or they have 'failed' in a very short time and been sacked.

HOPEFULLY, with Falmer actually happening, and now only one full season away... any manager who is successful will be interested in staying.

Eh? Given before the last couple of years we've been a small seaside club with not much financial backing I think we've done pretty well there. The only ones I can really question are Hinshelwood and Adams the second time round (though admittedly I did agree with that at the time) possibly Wilkins aswell (promoted too early). That said i'm a bit too young to remember Wood ect.

The problem is if we do that then we'll, quite understandably, have a reputation as sacking club that makes Newcastle look like a bastion of sanity. Consequently any manager who comes here and has just a sniff off success will be off to a better job at the first opportunity rather than risk falling foul of our notoriously short period of tolerance.

The big advantage we have this time round in hanging on to an even slightly successful manager is this...

you could also see the negative point about Falmer...what a millstone around a new manager's neck is that going to be!!!

That immobile, lumbering 15 tonne digger with the turning circle of a barge would slot in neatly at centre back and nobody would even notice, so I'm guessing El Abd's days are numbered.

But for the first time in years we are an attractive proposition for a manager looking to take a club forward. It does not look good - but you can still make the case that Bloom is not a Hire-em Fire-em - and with money in your pocket in this division, and Falmer on the way I would hope that we see a long-term manager in. And that Bloom sticks with his choice.

It is possible, but I really don't believe it.

I don't get how fan's expectations are so high! There seems to be a camp with people like Pork Pie in it expecting us to be in the Premiership in 3/4 seasons! This is such a tough league to get out of, just ask Leeds United and look at how much money they've thrown at it! And they've got a huge stadium and had (for this league anyway) top class managers and players.

I hate to say it but I expect to be in this league for another 2/3 seasons. I don't think we can financially match teams like Southampton, Norwich, Huddersfield and Charlton etc, and we really don't seem to have the patience to build a team like Scunthorpe or Southend. I really hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it.

You may well be right. A new stadium does not always lead to improvement in results - it tends to make it easier for away teams. Going from Withdean however - it should create a feel-good factor around the club. I just do not want to assume Bloom is a hire-em fire-em based on this episode. Let him take time in making his own choice and see where we go.

There is that feel-good factor, but there will also be awfully high expectations. Especially if we are still in League One at that stage. Guess we can only hope.
