Barnet, what is Hard dance these days? Like the old Tony de Vit stylee? Have to say I gave up on that scene many moons ago.

But..... Give me head disturbing techno like Richie Hawtin plays and Im in seventh heaven! Jeff Mills is also a DON!

Maybe TDV was the source, but It's evolved, there's less bouncey Hard House now. 12 months ago the more brutal stuff was almost reaching happy hardcore speed, not pleasant.

Now it seems to be safely meandering around the 145 - 155bpm mark.

I'm not to fussed on Hard House but on the hard trance side, think Samsara +5bpm. IMO Quality stuff.

not all hed kandi is chillout at all. i go to honeyclub every two weeks now its a residency and after 1.30 -2 it gets a bit harder depends on dj.

hard house techno etc just not my thing. however saying that i love PVD esp seeing him at cream ibiza

I haven't been clubbing in Brighton for years, so can't comment but when I went to Hed Kandi in London there was far too much attitude. Just not my thing anymore. To me, dance music is a very personal thing. It's rare that people all like the same thing. I know plenty of people who love hed kandi type stuff and house music. I used to be a fan at the time of babelicious, Sasha, Oakey etc. I don't hate it, but it's just not really my thing anymore.

When you're used to something a bit more upbeat, it's difficult to get into something more relaxed.

It's weird how you taste in music changes over the years. I've always been into what I still refer to as 'black music'. Started off on eighties' soul (Anita Baker, Will Downing etc) then got into hip hip (KRS One, Kool Moe Dee etc) then morphed into house and techno. Had a phase when I was big into hard, banging techno, stuff that had loads of 303s in, lots of stuff on Experimental Records from the States. Aphex Twin was a mate at Uni, so I got well into experimental knob twiddling (ooh er), all his weird acid stuff on Rephlex, but then calmed down a bit and changed into funkier, more melodic house and drum n bass.

BUT, I still thumb through my old tunes and go 'wow!' - it's all good 'soul' music at heart, stuff that you really 'feel' inside. Love it!!:D :D

Decks are such a laugh. Thing is, buying vinyl is bloody addictive :D. You might pick a pair of Technics up on Ebay (I bought my bloody car on Ebay and it's still going nicely) - Technics are quality. Not sure about all the imitations (ie. Vestax, Newmark etc) cos never used them, but some people do rate them.

Will keep an eye out for you Caz, no worries. Keep looking and some will turn up. Seriously, though, if you have a Cash Convertors or pawn shop near you, take a look. Cos they do get them in from time to time. :D
