Random Welsh fact for the day: Welsh is one of 55 global languages chosen to be recorded on the Voyager space programme. Somewhere, sometime in a distant galaxy, a strange creature might come across "Iechyd da i chwi yn awr ac yn oesoedd" (Good health to you now and always) and wonder what strange creature produced such sounds.

I listened to that all the way through and noticed the lyrics and it is without doubt the most stirring of National Anthems.
Absolutely no mention of Leeks though which surprised me.

Awe-inspiring and rousing was how I described the anthem in my blog. My favourite of all time.

It has lost its edge a bit, now that Jenkins has been shelved, but still head and shoulders above any national anthem I have ever heard.
