Sitting on the fence then...:)

Icy Gull = Clueless :)

Apologies but for me Butters isnt in the same class as Cullip as a defender or an organiser.
Its so obvious, the difference in class astonishes me and how people cant see it does make me wonder.

If Hull get promoted I can see him going. They have a great stadium and superb facilities which is one of the things Cullip is unhappy about here.

The club is also going places and has an amitious and rich manager willing to spend money on the squad.

They managed to get Alton Thelwell to leave London and drop down three leagues.

What money? In the age of free transfers and Bosmans, teams have had the chance to sign Cullip and even when he was on the list there were no enquiries for him.

I know his knee's are questionable, but it seems at times that outside of Brighton, people do not rate him as highly as we do. At the end of the day, the only club to be sniffing seems to be Hull and they are a league below us.

His knee is the only thing that stopped him playing a higher standard years ago.

My argument is that Cullip is better than Butters always has been and always will be.

I think it comes back to a similar argument to Oatway, that people will never question Cullip as he is a grafter and a good blocker, but the best two seasons he has played have been when Morgan or Blackwell have been his partner. They have been able to compensate for the faults in his game.

Not sure on that one.

Butters played at a high level when he was younger and is less prone to mistakes then Cullip.

Butters knows his limitations and plays to them and has a pretty good left peg as well.

Cullip is prone to the odd blooper and tries to pass a lot of the time when he is in fact, shit at long passes.

On current form I would say Butters is better.

In the same way as Chris Perry, Cullip perhaps lacks a few inches.

sorry but can't agree on this one. DC has been a great servant and key figure in our recent rise but some fans seem to view him through rose-coloured glasses.

Guy Butters has been a proven player at this level for many years and his positional sense and reading of the game is superior to DC. DC is an ideal player to get out of League One, but has been found wanting at this level on more occasions than Butters.

Not sure re. the arguement that his knees stopped him going to a better club. If a player is good enough then a club will sign them regardless of their past fitness e.g Van Nistelrooy to Man U, Ricardo Fuller to Preston. Past Managers always say how much they rate DC yet none has actually signed him.

I believe that DC biggest problem is that he gets up to win a ball with his head but then 9 times out of 10 puts it to an opponent thus defeating the object of having one it in the first place.

Nobody can take away how well he played in the past alongside Morgan, who I consider was the most underated player we had or when playing alongside Blackwell but to say he should be on the highest wage thus implying he is the best player at the club is rubbish.

You can't compare like with like Ritchie

I've seen Thelwell play a few times at the KC Stadium and he's been very ordinary.....something you could rarely label Cullip as being

Friends of mine who support Hull and watch him regularly don't rate him at all. Just because he had a few games for Spurs at Premiership level does not make him a good player

:shootself

Another gem Ritchie

How many times a game do you say "good header Danny" as opposed to "shit, I can't believe Cullip lost ANOTHER header"?!!!

I always thought that players play in the higher divisions because of their quality/ability. Butters has that pedigree and trying to compare him to a player several years his junior is a bit like trying to compare Senna with Shumacher.

Or does your "money" statement mean something else?
