Not sure if I've had any post, but I lost all sympathy for posties earlier this week.
I had been waiting for 2 weeks for a parcel, which had been sitting in the local royal mail depot for over a week because it was too big for the postie to take (it was a shoebox).
No note through the door telling me they had may parcel, no attempt to deliver it. I had to go to the depot and ask whether they had my parcel. What a rubbish delivery service, 0/10 and that is being generous.
At my place of work we have started in the last few months to use Royal Mail's competetors because they are far more reliable. I think I'll follow that example with personal parcel post in the future.
Hmm quite a lot of things to take issue with there Strings.
How do you expect your postie to carry say 5 shoe boxes on his bike, with 16kgs of post, and all other smaller packets, for the 150 or so calls that make up your part of his round?
If we had the staff, packet delivery drivers wouldn't be taken from their jobs to deliver post.
Was the depot in question within 5 miles of your home (I will answer that for you) yes.
Would our competitors be nearer or a long way away (do you want me to answer that too).
Yes it looks like a mistake has been made, we are only human, but the error quite probably stems from RM cutbacks (or postie lazyness) which is why my colleague feel they have no option but the strike TOMORROW.
