Tonight at Wembley arena, is anyone else going? Can't wait, yes I know it's Axl and a covers band, but apparently they've been really good so far. :drink: :drink: :drink: punk: punk: punk:

Although Slash always will be god :afro:

Tickets were a birthday present from my bro, and having seen a couple of bootlegs of recent performances they are pretty good, although do know what you mean, almost like the AFC Wimbledon, MK Dons argument, however also take credit having seen Velvet Revolver a couple of times

my mate is going - he was practically creaming himself in the pub last night about the prospect of it

I went last night... with my 15yo son and two of his friends... it was as they said 'immense' (despite GnfR finishing at about 1:30!)

oh... apart from the truly awful 'Sailing' cover and one of the guitar interludes (some poppy love song thing that I vaugely recognised while they murdered it!).

Axel, for all his faults, is a great entertainer - and the GnR classics were performed brilliantly.

and having seen Velvet Revolver at Hammersmith last year, I know which I would prefer to see again and at which venue... GnR at Wembley Arena - was definitely a memorable night out.

They were top draw. Was a bit nervous about how the guitar solos would sound, however apart from November Rain, they tried to make the solos their own and were very impressive, with November Rain, you just can't improve on perfection. Also there were more orginal members then I thought, Axl, Dizzy Reed and the legend that is Izzy Stradlin was back strumming. Set list was
Welcome to the Jungle
It's So Easy
Mr Brownstone
Live And Let Die
Guitar solo, God Save The Queen(which won over anyone who was calling for Slash and very surreal)/Sweet Child O' Mine
Knockin On Heavens Door
Piano solo/Beautiful
Instumental version of Christina Aguilria's Beautiful (surprisingly good)
You Could Be Mine
Don't Cry instumental
Out Ta Get Me
November Rain
You Got To Move
Patience
Nightrain
Paradise City

Overall well worth the money if I'd paid and Axl still has it, as someone said having also seen Velvet Revolver definately know who I would rather see again

Did they come onstage about 3 in the morning to a chorus of boos from punters who'd missed their last train, like they usually do?

Came on about 10 and finished at 12.30, can't argue them apples, even if people had missed tubes home etc. To be honest I don't think anyone cared just glad to see them, and to get your moneys worth from a concert these days is strange enough. So often the way now, you pay top whack then the band only play for an hour and a half. Recommend to anyone well worth the cashola

The Sunday night show was as good, but Axl let his ego cock it up again. After the Saturday show, he went out and played an acoustic private set for VIPs/liggers. Come Sunday, Seb Bach told the crowd that Axl was last seen singing his guts out a 5AM....

The show was great until midnight (they came on around 10:20), when suddenly half way through Night Train Axl fails to reappear and Seb Bach comes on to finish the song, and close the show with Paradise City. No encore, lights up. The manager comes on a tries to claim that Axl was unwell and show almost didn't take place - got booed because people aren't that stupid. Totally unprofessional and a limp-wristed end to a great show.

Slash isn't needed, and nor is Izzy Stradlin, I think he only turns up to stroke Axl's ego. Great performance, just a bit of a rip off for the 000s who pay to watch him and fail to get the whole show because he's too tired after performing somewhere else.

Bullet for my Valentine were shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. I can see why goths go in for self-harm, we were begging for razor blades after the first song.

On Saturday we endured two sessions of Axl reading out girls names 'picked at random' for free tickets... it was like the vicar at a village fete :nono:

I have to agree about BfmV, but they weren't help by very poor sound engineering and staging. However, they did look very disinterested and played a very short set, with little interaction with the crowd.

Unlike Sebastein Bach who were really loving it - and rocked Wembley big style punk:

The "VIP" acoustic set is reviewed here:

No wonder he was feeling unwell for the last night of the tour. Unprofessional. He's obviously too old to be doing this now, but the rest of the band didn't feel the need to leave the stage early!

However, looking forward to Motorhead in November - Lemmy's pushing 60, and somehow I just can't see him bailing out and getting his manager to claim that "he's got a poorly tummy!"
