Grimandi linked with Wycombe

Grimandi has been playing in the United States
New Wycombe boss Tony Adams could be set to link up with former Arsenal colleague Gilles Grimandi.

Adams, who began his managerial career with a 4-1 FA Cup win over Swindon, is keen to boost his squad in a bid to drag Wycombe off the foot of Division Two.

He has a £70,000 transfer kitty provided by several club sponsors, and has discussed bringing 33-year-old Frenchman Grimandi in as player-coach.

Wycombe chairman Ivor Beeks said: "We need to make signings and we hope to do that quickly."

Grimandi left Arsenal in July last year to play Major League Soccer in the USA.

I can see Adams doing quite well there and getting in all the young Arsenal players on loan and ageing players just so they can keep playing...watch this space

Grimandi is a f***ing cart horse.

But a carthorse in the Premiership could turn into a thoroughbred in the 2nd

Delusional rubbish. Grimandi reeks, and I'm sure he'd be well "up for it" trooping out from our portacabins in D2 after being used to the Marble Halls. Give me a youngster out to prove himself any day of the week, rather than a washed up has-been who was crap anyway.

Not so delusional he would be playing for Adams, and IF he has what it takes, these are just the kind of signings that may make his name.

Your opinion of Grimandi is based on his performances at the highest level, div 2 is rank any half motivated ex top class player will look world class amongst the dross.

Disagree completely. A half-motivated player will be shite whatever level he's playing at. How many foreign players have dropped down from the Premiership to the lower divisions and been a success ? Most of them are only over here for the money, and once thats gone, they're certainly not interested in winding down their careers knocking about in the lower leagues.

Maybe we'll see him here on Boxing Day when Wycombe come down, and if Grimandi plays a blinder then I'll stand corrected. But I very much doubt it.

He was poor for Arsenal in the Prem. But I prefer to remember him for the cracking winner he scored at Highbury against Palace a few years back.

This is why Adams was my choice for a manager.

I saw this on the bbc website

Oh come on, why would 'Geel Greemondee' make Adams such a top choice for anything? He wasn't exactly setting the league alight at Arse, and he wasn't an international surely? He lasted a couple of seasons with them, much of it on the bench, and rarely did anything much of any note.

Adams is on his first try-out as a manager and people are creaming! Keegan did well on occasion, but really has no tactical clue (which is how I knew Mickey would outwit him last weekend).
KK played under the best, and only fares passably well at City because he could buy some decent players - what can Wycombe afford on 70k ?

Let's give him a few months there and see - and let's also see what MM does too, because so far he's doing exactly as he should after a look at the squad, and I really don't think T. Adams would instill much into our team, especially in one or two games.
