PS:

Rearrange the piles into a East Terrace, mow the lawn, hire a few thousand seats from where you get them from, put in a few turrnstiles, and it is already looking better than Withdean.

It was called Pende about 500 years ago when it was last built on.

Do I take it you have some sort of fixation about Pende? In a previous life, were you buried there? Did you have your first kiss of better there?

I really do think it is very unhealthy constantly going on about a piece of land.

It is very disturbing

Is the title of this thread a reference to what comes out of the mouth of Perseus?

looks like the kind of place that if you sounded a police siren loads of men(safeway and persus included) would come running out the long grass with their strides round their ankles.

I have no financial interest in Pende or the piles of shit that are appearing all over of it.

If that pile of shit is meant to be a golf course, that is nothing to do with me.

It just happens to be 120+ acreas of land that is being wasted literally by tipping piles of waste all over it.

Under a Section 106 agreement, some of the acreage, maybe 30 acres or so is allocated for football pitches. I may have some input into this allocation, but it was pretty obvious anyway that football pitches, with or without stands go on the nearest green patch on the edge of town. That has always been the way. the Goldstone was on the edge of town a long time ago.

Ten minutes by train (if they rebuild the station). Fifteen minutes of the train stops at all the halts. See:

http://www.glaucus.org.uk/Pende.htm

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/BMLSS/Pende-Modal.htm

The access roads would cost the most dosh. But as this is the contingency plan if Falmer comes a cropper, it should be compared to the cost that Brighton University want for their special plans.

(That is assuming that Brighton University are not just using their new objections as a ruse to delay and prevent Falmer in the first place. I know they say they support the Falmer application, but they do NOT behave as though they do. Compulsory Purchase is a non-goer in the short term, so we will have to wait and see if the University and Albion can agree.)

Whatever, happens it is still usless piles of shit all over the place, which lots of people do not really care about, but they are a long way from the houses, but more piles of shit are appearing every day.

Nope.
Everything at the Uni end is now settled, i can promise you that.
They have not been behaving correctly but then the Albion haven't gone about certain things in the right way either.

I thoguht as a condition of moving back to Brighton the new stadium had to be within a certain distance as the crow flies of the town centre and Pende was too far away?

If what Chapman says is right, it don't matter.

Still it is the best contingency plan on offer if Prescott doesn't see Falmer as a goer. I would have liked to have seen Village Way South in contention as well.

Government thinking has changed in two ways since the Falmer plan was first drawn up.

At a recent science conference in Manchester, English Heritage has come out publicly in favour of building on surplus farmland and presumably the South Downs Conservation Board will eventually change their tune in the light of the new Government policies.

The second change is the Archictectural and Planning Group have cricitised the small scale regeneration plans that have not benefited the local economies all over the UK. They now favour larger scale plans. As the whole area from Littlehampton to Newhaven is a regeneration zone (because it is below the national average for household incomes) any regeneration project approved by SEEDA, the regional board can expect to have support in terms of money and Planning Permission.

Ken Bodfish is the local representative on SEEDA. So it seems as though Ken Bodfish now actually supports the Falmer plans (albeit reluctantly and with an unfortunate letter to the Argus) so I would have thought that it would get the go ahead.

At the moment it seems reasonably clean shit at Pende. I expect some of the Falmer chalk will end up there as well.
