And so bretheren, the moral of the tale is...

"If thou dost heap shit upon thine opposing players brow, do not taketh offence or climbeth on thine high horse when the opposing player yonder dost returneth some stick, for that dost make thee a hypocrite"

or something.

He who laughs last. Fans do leave themselves open when they pick on a player.I found it embarassing how a SMALL MINORITY booed him early on in the game.I would never boo an ex Albion player as long as he had been a trier and not mouthed off after leaving.Brighton fans are no different to others around the country in so much that they have some who spend more time booing the opposition and baiting rival fans than actually supporting their own team.

so let me get this right,

because I don't think we should have booed Barrett and that he was well within his right to tell us to 'f*** OFF', I am:

a member of the 'rose tinted- Iloveeveryexalbionplayereveniftheywereshitandhavek
illedmymother-brigade'.

partly responsible for the fact that 'Withdean is like a ghost town'.

not part of 'the ones that try and actually create an atmosphere at the place!'

yes?

lammy,

having a go at the opposition keeper is completely different as they have not formerly played for the club, in there time with us have never said a bad word about a club, always put in 100%effort when they were with the club, been supportive over our efforts to get a stadium and generally conducted themselves in a very professional, if not talented, way in their time with our club.

the guards outside buck palace is also a bad example as they do not get crowd of people all shouting that they are a wanka.

The only things you have correctly observed in this whole thread is that the majority of j and h block agreed with you in slagging off barrett all game. However, just because that is the case does not mean they are right. I said at the time i didn't agree and I am still saying it now.

btw, lammy, do you sit with Dover and Krispies etc.?

Sorry I'm going to support Lammy hear, I saw the guesture from the North Stand, and he is now a wanker in my view.

Plus he is an absoultly shite player, one of the ones you wonder how they ever made it into football in the first place........

1 goal in the whole season up front - Jake's already matched that - HOW OLD IS HE????

You don't have to apologies. I know it sometimes feels like you need to on this board though!

By all means give a player stick throughout a game if that's what floats yer boat. Just don't bleat like a GIRL if he gives a wee bit back.

Apart from the play for our club bit nearly all of those points still apply.

You'd be surprised.

I was not personally slagging him off all game. And MOST people weren't either. What I'm saying is that SOME people were giving him some stick in the first half. After he gestured at the crowd MOST people booed him.

No I sit in H Block Row G

Who is bleating like a girl? I simply called him a wanker! It is the rest of this board that is bleating like a girl because I called him a wanker.

A statement I still stand by.

Barret waas f***ing shite when he was with us (really my language is dreadful these days).

and how glad i was to see that nothing has changed.

All I can remember him doing is runing around like a headless chicken for 28 (28 FFS!!!) games and getting sent off v Portsmouth which really helped when we had no strikers.

Look, Henderson, Kitson, fck me , even Farrington were more productive strikers than him

As for booing ex-players - its not something I will do unless they strt making stupid and petty gestures to us or try and provoke us with stupid quotes. We are a bigger and better club than that.

indeed I have applauded ex-players off the field who have scored the winning goal against us (nelson, Ward, and probably Zamora). didnt John Byrne score for Oxford against us.

I think we've got a reputation for giving ex-players & managers a decent reception. Unless they give reason not to, as it seems Barrett did.

I've no doubt that Bobby Z will be given a fantastic welcome & anyone who boo's him is a dickhead!

Conclusion: Graham Barrett came to us on loan, was not very good, but at least tried his best (unlike a certain Mr Kitson who was probably the most talented player we have had at the club for the last ten years but is undoubtedly a wanker of the highest order).

He said he enjoyed his stay here, but chose to sign for Coventry, no loss to the Albion to be honest. However for this 'crime' some of the singing/whining stand chose to give him some verbal, and when Cov scored he told them to f*** Off.

This apparently makes him a wanker.

I'd put him in the ignore category.

I would sing "Brighton reject" at him as he was certainly rubbish, but I would not call him a wanker.

He was nice about us in the Argus.

I'd never criticise a fellow Albion fan for booing an ex Albion player - each to their own and all that - but what I can't stand is these twats who give a revolting OTT potty mouthed tirade (invariably in earshot of kids under the age of 10) and then totally overreact when the player returns the sentiment - even if it is just a fraction of the drivel coming from the fans in the first place.

Booing Graham Barrett is embarrassing but to be expected I suppose. He was only a loan player, and he worked hard for this club. If I was him, I'd feel quite bitter about this club's fans now. All very sad. :nono:

He was OK and he gave my son his shorts from his kit bag after we had beaten Watford 4 - 1 at home.
