yes he was.

Lammy said:

He was getting some stick by some mis-guided fans but nothing much. Brighton reject etc...
that as well.

Lammy said:

I would not boo an ex-Albion player as a matter of routine.
good.

Lammy said:

Indeed I didn't boo Barrett until he gestured the crowd.
very noble of you. :)

Lammy said:

I can't believe he has become such a great player
no one said that.

Lammy said:

that always gave 100% in everyones eyes.
he did.

Lammy said:

He came to Brighton to do a job on loan (he wasn't even out player) and faile miserably!
but put the effort in and I can't ask for an ything other than that.

Lammy said:

He was always going to get a bit of stick.

sadly that is true.
Lammy said:

I can't believe he was suprised by this or got upset by it enough to risk getting booked after they scored.

I would have been upset by the level of it if I had never said a bad word about a club, always put in 100%effort, been supportive over their efforts to get a stadium and generally conducted myself in a very professional, if not talented, way in my time with the club.

Lammy said:

Surprise surprise he didn't even score it!
Richie Barker didn't score for ages when he came to us, do you hate him?

If you say so.

I wasn't getting booed from where I was sitting until after the gesture. I'm not defending anyone who did so before hand. What I'm saying is he is a wanker for reacting and deserved the boos he got AFTER he gestured the crowd.

To be honest I cannot be arsed to argue this point to the rose tinted-Iloveeveryexalbionplayereveniftheywereshitandhavekilledmymother-brigade.

He got some stick before the goal, he reacted. He got booed, quite rightfully, afterwards.

This view was held by the vast majority of J and H block on Saturday.

i think when he came the idea was to play him on the wing and zamora and kitson up front, however as we know things didnt work out like that with injuries and he was forced to play up front.
from what i have seen he is a good winger

So if someone joins the club, works his socks off every game, but ultimately just doesnt quite do it, he should be abused for that?

As someone said earlier, should we start booing Hart, Watson and Oatway from now on in?:nono:

The fact remains that there were a LOT of people booing Barrett AFTER his gesture to the crowd. Obviously they don't dare post on here though due to the holier than thou attitude they will get in return.

Players, especially ex players tend to get wound up at football. It's part of what makes playing at home an advantage. Along with supporting your own team you make the place as unwelcome for the opposition as possible (without being an idiot i.e. racism, excessive foul language infront of children, throwing objects etc).

It's no wonder Withdean is like a ghost town with the views held by most people on this thread! Jeeeees.

It tells me that the views held on NSC are not those held by the majority of people that I sit with in blocks J & H at Withdean. The SINGING section. You know the ones that try and actually create an atmosphere at the place!

Or is a it a case of do something at a game and then come on hear all squeaky clean? Hmmm...

I used to sit there but as I no longer have a season ticket then maybe I must be a bad fan too. Still, if you regard the feeble and usually tuneless croaking of a handful of 'good' fans generating atnosphere I trhink you must spend most of your llife in outer space.

I don't believe I, or anyone else said he was a great player

I just thought he ran around (sometimes yes, like a headless chicken) and gave maximum effort to the cause, never gave up, always willing to chase crappy balls launched by the defense or chase defender's down

Barratts actual words were "f*** Off" and fair play to the bloke, some people were abusing him and he gave a bit back.
I was in the front of J Block so had a view of the whole thing, and 2 wankers next to me,who had a young lad with them were screaming all game for Virgo to break his legs!!

Sad people or what?:nono:

To be fair those idiots would probably be saying the same thing to whoever was on the wing that day. I don't condone that sort of behaviour. But shouting out "Barrett, you're useless, you couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo!" is fair game IMHO.

It's part and parcel of the game if you ask me. A bit of banter with the away goalkeeper etc. It's all part of the game. Of course there will always be idiots going too far but footballers should be able to cope. Sticks and stones etc. Bit like Cullip tapping that player on the head repeatedly! It's funny and it winds them up. Look at Beckham. Players are allows trying to wind him up. As home supporters it is our duty to put off teh opposition by making them think their ears look funny or their shorts are falling down. Knowing that they are not allowed to react is part of it. When they do react the crowd will boo them. It's a bit like those soldiers out side Buck house! Everyone tries to wind them up as they are not allowed to react!

Sorry I'm going to support Lammy hear, I saw the guesture from the North Stand, and he is now a wanker in my view.

Plus he is an absoultly shite player, one of the ones you wonder how they ever made it into football in the first place........

1 goal in the whole season up front - Jake's already matched that - HOW OLD IS HE????
