Hello gents, Swindon fan here...

The main cause of our upset here is simply this - we plan on keeping Greer, and it never occured to us that we might not!

We may have lost billy, but to be honest, the fans expected that, and weren't overly gutted. We consider him a good player at our level, but not Championship material (only scored 12 goals last season, and 10 the season before) and certainly replacable.

Conversely though, Greer has been great for us. The season before Greer came, our defense was a shambles. He adds captaincy and leads the team. I would consider him part of the "spine" of our team. We sorely missed him at Wembley. It was his own fault he wasn't there, and hopefully he will learn from that.

Simply put - it makes no sense to sell him, and especially not to a team in the same league as us!

Finally, as for our financial situation and stadium, redevelopment is planned from possibly as early as next year, and our new board is actually loaded just in case you didnt know!! They just run the club like a proper business, as it should be! We have no debts, no CVA payments any more etc, and are definitely a club on the up, on and off the pitch. :clap2:

Good post. Be a strange one to me as well if we get him.

He's well thought of by the fans too, and seems quite settled. As mentioned above he captained a team which made it to the play offs.

I doubt any player would leave a club for a sideways move, just because they thought the area was "prettier". As mentioned, if he cared enough, there's tonnes of beautiful locations to live in around Wiltshire.

This sounds more like a statement of intention from Gus to me? And it never does any harm to ask! Sure you'll do better next season than this...
You seem a decent fellow. Welcome to NSC.

Good move by the Albion. Seems a decent enough signing if we get him. If we don't, Swindon might feel it necessary to pay him a lot more than he gets now, thus affecting the club's pay structure and bottom line. The offer may also cause some upheaval to the player.

It seems strange for the Argus to report it (or BHA to tell the Argus) if the move is unlikely to happen, i.e. if he rejects us. It will be massive egg on the face for us and perhaps affect the possibilities of others deciding to move here. I'm hoping this means it is a done deal but expect it is isn't :s

Not so much egg on our faces.

It's been reported we are interested in Prutton too, but if we don't get him it isn't egg on our faces.

ps Those Swindle Town types still don't seem to like us much do they? Maybe Virgs' impending arrival there will halp to heal some of those awful, open wounds innit. :lolol:

Not really the club haven't officially said anything so its all only rumours.

Cheers!.

I doubt our board would sell a key player when we don't need to unless it was for a wad of extra cash. Would be a bit suicidal else eh? :shootself

Just have to see what happens, and whatever happens I think we can safely say both clubs are looking forward to a potentially succesful year!

Why would he leave Swindon? Because Swindon are a tiny club with no prospects and are generally shit while we are a BIG club with GREAT prospects with one of the best managers in the lower leagues and thousands of supporters in the best city in England. That is why.

The biggest problem of all for your team that you've completely overlooked is......Swindon is a dump with dour appeal next to our town. So the boys coming to Sussex I'm afraid to join the gus revolution. As Swindon should know, we always win in the end. Even if you're leading after 119mins of play!!!!

Factually correct. Impossible to argue against.
