Are you gradually being converted to the left wing way of thinking?!!!![]()
Hmm.
I think that I have adopted a more Liberal stance as I've got older. I still feel as though MT was right for the country at the time. We were the sick man of Europe, and suffered with too much industrial unrest. My formative years were affected by these problems, and I felt the unions were a primarry factor in this. When she took the unions on, I felt this was needed.
I accept that in some areas she may have gone too far, or the message delivery was not clear enough. For example, the community charge (poll-tax) replaced the old rates system which was also unfair. The council tax still has it's problems, and whichever system gets adopted will always lead to losers and winners.
I think posters on here who blindly dismiss her achievements are petty. Also, the constant digs at Conservatives/right-wingers as being selfish/uncaring causes resentment. IMO, it also belittles their argument as how can soneones views on how to run an economy honestly be linked to their views on social responsibilities?
I don't feel as though there are huge differences in what we want, just maybe the empasis on the best way to achieve the results.
Left-wing/right-wing? Probaly right of center, free-market but wanted top quality, free public services. However, not willing to be a free-touch for skivers and cheats.
