there are some comments above regarding passing of train tickets to someone else- perhaps the best analogy would be a train ticket bought with a rail card - you get a discount if u have a rail card , so lets say you buy a ticket , get the discount, but cant /don't go. You pass it to a friend for the face value but when travelling they get checked and obviously cant produce the photo id to go with the card-

the result would be travelling without a valid ticket- seems a fair cop to me. Would anyone complain that it wasn't fair because the ticket had been paid for? Just because someone else was entitled to the discount due to rail cad-why shouldn't they be able to pass the rail ticket on and the recipient not have to pay full price ?

That seems fairly similar to buying a season ticket, getting the discount and passing it on to someone who doesnt qualify for it.
Travelling on a train with a discounted ticket but unable to produce your railcard could get you a fine of £100 + full single price fare. And that's if it's the person with the railcard travelling but they haven't got their railcard with them.

All of these weird examples to try and justify why we should just be able to give our ticket to one of our mates if we can't attend a game is ... well, just a bit weird.

The only time i've seen men wash their hands without fail at a football match was that last game (at Molinueux) before Covid in 2020 (MacAllister's debut) . The handwashing was thorough, lengthy and impressive and as it turns out short lived.
At my first match in Switzerland (FC Basel) I noticed there were two queues into the gents. One was to use the toilets, the other was a queue for handwashing. People would finish peeing then leave the toilet to join the other queue. It would never happen here! (Well, COVID excepted perhaps.)

I think that all most people are saying there could be better ways to fill up the stadium on nights like this, as there are many different aspects why people haven't attended.

I totally get that and I think it's a very reasonable conversation to have. I just think some of the examples/suggestions given are plucked out of thin air to try and justify their grievance. The club are not going to budge on giving tickets to mates - other than by using the system that is currently in place and which actually works well for many.

Here's an example of a crazy idea that maybe I should have posted before noon today.

"Brighton & Hove Albion have come to the conclusion that The Amex is currently too big for mid week games in terms of number of seats available. As a result, the club have decided to remove some seats and give those that do go a bit more space but nudging the seats along so our customers can sit more comfortably. It will also give more of an impression of the game being a sellout. We'll put some seats back for Sunday games and revert to capacity for games that kick off at 3pm on Saturdays".

I mean, that sounds reasonable ... ;)

Maybe a give away to schools / football clubs / youth clubs in deprived areas of Sussex

Great idea in theory and they used to use the north-west corner 'shelf' for this purpose, but how would they organise this when they don't know how many spare seats there are going to be in advance and when the seats will also be scattered all over the stadium, with a lot of them single seats.

Maybe the club could come up with something similar to the 3 Match Ticket for our home games in the Europa League. Pay a reduced rate for all three fixtures as an incentive to attend all the games rather than pay considerably more for each match individually.
Yep, we’ve done this in the past so why not.

I sincerely doubt there are 3000 mates who barely go to games chomping at the bit to tomorrow night. Maybe a couple of hundred, but I think the assumption that the ground would be filled if you could just pass your ticket on is wishful thinking.

The problems with attending midweek matches are well known. I'd imagine that most people who are missing midweek matches know well in advance that they may struggle to go to them, for what ever reason, child care, travel, work etc. It's not to difficult to make prior arrangements with potential pass on recipients by A using the free single match option or B signing up for the unlimited option if your circumstances mean you may need to use a few times a season.

Back in the good old days when you could hand over your card, I quite often couldn't get rid of my ticket or a friends ticket as everyone I knew who wanted to go to the game was already going.

I think the club have met everyone in the middle by providing multiple options to make those tickets available.

I think it is always a nightmare in WSU when trying to pass through the end sections of the concourses to get to the centre, when people there queuing for food and drink. I think somebody from the hierarchy needs to visit pre match to see for themselves. WSU is the forgotten section of the stadium.
East Upper is rubbish too. Once the queues build up you can't really get past.

I'd prefer to be able to hand my tickets to my neighbour and his son on the occasions I can't go, but I also understand why the club don't want that to happen.
Likewise, but then they have to cough up to be Albion+ members and or pay the extra for the upgrade, etc.

Sometimes, the club seem like the campsite owner in Carry On Camping when he greets Sid James and Bernard Bresslaw at his gate and everything is possible... for a small fee.

There are about 3 sinks per approximately 378 urinals at the Amex. The club do not want you to wash your hands.

What relevance is the option of bus travel to the point you are struggling to make?
Nothing to do with buses. It's pretty simple if you engage your brain. Everyone pays the travel levy but not everyone takes the train

Only it's not £1 every time you want to do something.
