God Bless Mark McGhee

I hope we can keep hold of him.

I fear that the sale of Virgo may open the door for Scottish clubs to raid the Albion in the future, with Mark McGhee included as a future target.
He would only ever go to Celtic or Aberdeen, personally I think He's been to long down south to move back over the border,The man will lead us out for the first game at Falmer against Celtic in the curtain raiser to a hundred years of glory.(nimrod plays in the background) :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

He's brill :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Have to admit I'm very chuffed with his performance thus far, all bar the signing of McCammon.

He must have the patience of a saint to put up with what he has to and all credit to him for doing so.

Must be all the Whisky he drinks

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. And people like Chappers, Rougvie, Roz, Lush, Hiney and a few others who have actually sat down and had a conversation with him will back me up on this...

Despite our financial constraints, despite our lack of a stadium, despite our position in the league - HE ACTUALLY LIKES IT HERE. He likes us, we like him. So why change it?

I wasn't convinced until the play off final but now feel he's the best in my many years of watching the Albion stretching back to the 1st Peter Taylor. Silk purse from a sow's ear springs to mind :)

Exactly. I said that when Strachan went to Celtic and everyone was worried that MM would go as assistant.

Respect is due for turning up on the evening the Tom Hark single got into the charts to have a pint with the fans :drink:

A top bloke and a good manager.

So far we have scraped a lot of results we had no right to do, so MM must take a lot of credit for that, along with the team.

Let's hope he can manage to keep rejuvenating the side after selling these key players. We'll have to sing a different tune if the side become the whipping-boys of the Championship through selling best players only to build a 2nd Division team.

I expect a few boos for having cast aspertions on this lovely thread, but realistically you all know what the general reaction will be if this season's BHAFC garner only a string of losses together after shedding our quality players.

It's a new season, I'd prefer to see how things are going before singing any praises for anyone.

Two quality players have already come in.

That's you being hopeful though Yorkie, not with any knowledge of how well they will do for us this season. While we gained two new names, we just shed a known, quality performer.
Like I said, let's see what transpires before singing on the mountain:O

I am not the only one calling Jason Dodd a quality signing. I have seen it on mixed forums from other fans.
CKR is highly rated and 3 other teams were after him. Ok I accept he's not proven yet.

  As I've said previously, McGuee now stands head and shoulders above the other DK appointments and it's not as if the competition's been crap - we all still love Micky whilst Coppell and Taylor were 2 outstanding managers also that contributed enormously. Not forgetting Nobby Horton too who managed the impossible whilst we were in exile.

Hinch, you've proved yourself too mate albeit with the youth. But as we've seen this week, that's a mighty fine bit of work you've done there, partner!

All praise the Albion management!! Hussar

When he was appointed I was sceptical to say the least and occasionally his tactics are a little strange but generally he has worked wonders.

He is honest when interviewed, doesn't talk up our chances when the fans know we are likely to struggle and genuinely seems to havethe fans at heart.

All he needs to do in the next two weeks is replace Coco the clown, Jolly, Blackwell, Cullip, Currie, Watto and Harding!! EASY, EASY, EASY :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: you shut up!

You're assuming this relationship is one-way? I'm looking forward to the loan players coming down from Celtic's talented youth set-up.

We should also all remind ourselves that Scottish players (and managers) were integral to the early years of the Albion. Indeed, so crucial were they, that the club as it is today might not have ever existed without them.

Like (it would seem) everyone else, I was dubious on McGhee's arrival, if leaning slightly towards the optimistic. But he has impressed the hell out of me. Top, top manager. If he keeps us up two seasons in a row he might just deserve that 'greatest Albion manager' tag.

I have to agree with Lizard, though - Steve Gritt's astonishing last-day saving of the Albion will have to go down as something truly special. And has everybody forgotten what happened on Brady's arrival?

p.s. The BHAlbas have been arguing for a Scottish pre-season tour for ages - c'mon, Mark, next summer MAKE IT HAPPEN!
