Has the standard of goalkeeping in our top flight dropped? not just with English 'keepers but overseas as well.

Gomes is a clown for a start as is Almunia, it seems every week a couple of keepers make some utter shockers.

There is a saying that all goal keepers are mad!

and the goalie is just as good as their defence

Edit: And keepers' mistakes are always more obvious than any other players. If Murrey is 1-on-1 with the goalie and he scuffs it wide the worst he will get is a few groans, if Kuipers lets one go through his hands the chances are it could cost us the game

Even some of the once good ones seem to have lost the plot a bit of late, Van der Sar, Howard, Given (although his whole team have lost it) to name but three.

The rerason hat Spurs are in trouble is they sold a good keeper going through abad time and signed one who is not anywhere near as good and whose saves havent outnumbered his mistakes. Since going to Blackburn Robinson has shown that he is still the best English goalkeeper in the premier.

i like gomes - he has the ability to pull of some amazing saves, yet most of the time he just clowns around. probably the most flair keeper in the premiership since jens left
