set yourself a budget and for god's sake leave all credit and debit cards locked away at home cos once you've had a few shandies it all goes to your head and you start thinking you're John McCrirrick or someone.

i know, i went to the King George at Ascot on Saturday and was lucky to escape with my shirt still on my back.

To be honest, Goodwood is a track that you get some strange results on. Keep you stakes low and enjoy the atmosphere. If the weather is as planned, it truly will be a glorious day.

I was obviously asleep yesterday and saw no-one interesting or important. But three winners more than paid for the tickets and lunch! Even better, my girlfriend paid for the petrol!

Plenty of the on-course bookies were taking £2 win or £2 each way, which keeps it affordable.
