If I were his manager, I would want to keep hold of him having triggered his extra year in his contract and give his the pre-season to show his worth. Then loan him out for 6 months if not likely to make the squad. In the hope that he would gain experience and then come back and compete

Glen has been here three years, been loaned out to league one and league two as well as playing for RoI U21. We must know by now if we think he will be able to make the step up by now. If not cut him loose, otherwise put him in the first team squad and stop trying to recruit a replacement for GG.

At his age Connor Goldson was made Shrewsbury captain, won player of the season and made league 2 team of the year.......

Mind you, thats ok, cos half the squad would be up for sale after every game for not performing etc (based on the ratings threads) and the entire squad after a defeat (everyone) so it would balance itself out.
