think it might have been after one of your previous posts, (or something on tv), i did try and book myself in for a go in worthing, but for some reason has turned into an admin nightmare with too many emails going back and forth, something to do with my details not matching up.
i am trying, and will keep on doing so!

When I was in hospital a few years back I had to have multiple transfusions, so I have personally benefitted from people's generosity in giving. Because of that, and a couple of other factors, I am now prohibited from giving myself, but I'd urge anyone who can to do so.

Don't bother trying to book online, just give them a call. Booking online means someone has to check if there is availability for the time and date you want then come back to you by email to let you know if there is space. I got put off a few times trying that way as for me it was a bit of a spur of the moment thing.

Give them a call, it takes a minute and you're sorted. I made my first donation a month or so ago and am booked in again for my next appointment already.

I feel your pain. I'd have to come of the same sort of medication, and be clear of it for 3 years before they'll take my blood. Sadly that's never going to happen.

I've done about 40 donations but I was turned down last month as i was too anaemic for them . I have to wait a year before i try again . Just have to become more carnivorous i suppose.

Do it,it doesn't hurt and is over in 5-10mins and it SAVES LIVES! I donate every 4 months and have given several bodies full and am proud to do so.

Blood transfusions have saved my little boys life many times. He's probably had about 40 units and he's only 3 + 1/2 years old

He has Acute Myeloid Leukaemia unfortunately.

I received an email a couple of weeks ago advising that men can now donate every 12 weeks (3 months) rather than 16 weeks (4 months), so I brought forward my next appointment by a month.

I got turned away last month - completely forgot that having had some recent tattoo work disqualified me (the limit is within 4 months) but I have re-booked for next month

Better not to tell them that I am going abroad (nowhere exotic) this month though

Worth remembering that the old age limit has now disappeared so you can carry on giving for longer

Travelling abroad isn't usually too much of an issue (I travel round Europe a fair bit with work), I think they just look out for certain high risk areas, or areas which recently reported an outbreak of something. I wasn't allowed to donate for a month after returning from the US, but it seemed to be a temporary restriction on the US rather than permenant.
