You have to be over 18 to legally purchase alcohol. In order to stop under age sales (failure can lead to the licence being taken away and financial penalties imposed) most retailers have a age restriction policy , so although you are look over 18 but under 25 (30 in Tesco) proof of age is needed. The retailers are only covering their own backs as in-house , Trading Standards and the local Police force make test purchases using 15 and 16 year olds who in reality could pass for 18 or 19 , who they say they look their age (complete bollocks).
Correct:thumbsup:

Twice this week I've been questioned about being too young.First when I tried to get a concession on my MK Dons ticket (even though I've been given the concessionary rate for the past two seasons this was refused because I am too young this week ),and then when I tried to book my flu jab I had to play my diabetic card otherwise ..........too young !

I love it !

I AM TOO YOUNG !!

Most places in the US have a similar policy but with the "look like age" limit at anywhere between 30 and 35. Actually for anyone taking in an NFL game the policy there (and this if from the horses's mouth as my friend works a concession stand at the Jacksonville stadium) is to ID EVERYONE. There are no exceptions. No ID = no beer. Not the end of the world unless you're emotionally attached to vastly overpriced Bud but thought I'd throw it in for anyone visiting the States who is planning to take in a game.

….the other thing at sporting events in the US, certainly in New York, is a limit of 2 drinks per person. You want a round of 4 drinks that’s 2 separate visits or two people buying, bloody ridiculous. Not like you’re going get pissed on the gnat’s piss they sell.

I was asked for ID in Sainsbury's, Haywards Heath, about 6 weeks ago when I purchased 4 cans of Fosters within my shopping.

I nearly fell over as I'm 37! :D
