Just been sent a message indicating that ex- Albion player Gerry Fell has passed away!
Can't find any confirmation online, anyone heard anything?

Gerry was the only Albion footballer I met during that time. I was only 7/8 and never went to matches, following intensely on the radio.

I say met Gerry, I'm sure the poor chap had less fond memories.

Albion had been invited to send a guest of honour to the St Luke's School Jubilee celebrations in 1977. Gerry and his beautiful wife obliged. There were, I think, three floats going round the streets before finishing at the school for the fete. I was sat next to Gerry- this having nothing at all to do with my Mum organising the event. From that moment I bombarded him with questions about the Albion. I have a photo of the float, Gerry stares into the distant camera, looking like he's drifted off into another world to escape the next quizzing, me looking like I have many more to send his way.

RIP Gerry, great days and, well, with maybe one exception for you, great memories.

This is very sad. When he ran with the ball he used to build up momentum and speed and literally steamrolled his way through and past opponents. He scored some great goals in 75 76. RIP.

Yes, he did, later played against him.
