he is ad and i do think its a disgrace that he has not given up the alcohol with a new liver. however speaking from very personal experience alcoholism is not just something to be sniffed at or people turn their noses up at. its a addiction and a dangerous one. he is also not surrounded by the right people, saying that he can only get over it once he wants to help himself

however he was an ace footballer

I think if a Doctor told me to not dsrink or DIE, well that would be a bit of an incentive.

Not giving up just shows his ignorance and selfishness to those that for some reason care about him!!

A Room service waiter once inquired as he delivered a bottle of vintage champagne and smoked salmon sandwiches to his luxury hotel room, where there was £20,000 in cash scattered on the bed - which also contained the reigning Miss Universe. 'So, Mr Best, tell me - where did it all go wrong?'

easier said than done, my dad died of alchoholism when i was 13. i do agree its easy to get angry with these people esp when he has wasted a liver. however same can be said with people who are addicted to drugs. their need to feed their addiction is far greater than anything esle

. About 10 years of real skill and then at 27 he was completely finished.

As I said earlier IMO he is the most skilful player this world has ever seen. Pure genius with the ball but an a.....le as a man.

Slightly different but I was told to pack up smoking and drinking neat spirits when I was diagnosed with Mouth Cancer in 1995. I asked the doctor what would happen if I didn't. His reply was 'dont book a holiday for next year as you will lose the deposit'

Very easy to stop smoking and drinking spirits. He obviously has no long term wish for life.

A bit off-topic but George Best was in my dream last night. He'd invaded an ice hockey rink to disrupt the game in protest about something (the bar being closed?) and was being attacked by several of the players.

I really must stop eating cheese before I go to bed.
