I bet you. Can see it now, the Falmer decision is made, George Best snuffs it, and the most momentous decision in footballing history is buried by the death of a self-destructive, wife-beating idiot

Just a Yes is good enough for me, stuff the publicity that follows, although those that played a large part in achieving our goal may not feel the same way

Who cares about the publicity? Surely its just the decision that matters?

Of course it's ultimately the decision that matters. But it's a huge story that needs telling. And I'd be angry if Mr Liverman got in the way.

It may be a huge story for us but the vast majority of football fans in the UK are still totally ignorant about our situation-which suggests that all we're likely to get is a cursory "Brighton given the go ahead for their new stadium. In other news...."

If the decision is a YES and on the same day Best pops his clogs-we'll hardly get a mention.

You'd better tell the media that-there's a shitload of cameras at the ready outside the hospital he's in.

It amazes me the amount of ignorant people who really havent got a clue about being an alcoholic. Yes its a terrible thing that a liver has been wasted however alcoholism is a disease and a addiction just like the however many millions of people that smoke and cost the NHS just as much money.

I agree BUT he was given a second chance and pretty certain he was rushed to the front of the list because of who he was and he has wasted a liver that someone would have treated a lot better and seen it as a second chance rather than more drinking time.

I know it's a terrible thing Caz, addictions by their nature are horrendous. I'm just tired of hearing about George Best's story, because he seems to me to be treated like he's a martyr sometimes.

We'll hardly get a mention if he doesn't pop his clogs the same day - they'll be reporting that George Best isn't dead yet.

my dad was an alcoholic and it eventually killed him, he had pancreatitis and had had 5 heart attacks by the time he was 48 the last one killing him as the heart could not take the strain anymore. i would say he had more than enough chances and he didnt take them. even being a single parent and looking after myself and younger sister was enough. the bottle was his only ally and that was it. he was drinking a bottle of port and 4 cans of lager a day by the time he passed away one his own with no one around him.

its a terrible addiction. i do have some sympathy for the donors family however you dont choose what type of person or who gets your organs.
