Portslade is now a district of the City of Brighton & Hove.

It used to be an independent town, but was first absorbed by Hove in the 1970s, and then again by the new B&H unitary authority in the 1990s.

It used to be that (still may be the case, not sure ) that Boundary Road was on the left side going up, and that was Portslade, and the other side was called Station Road, which was in Hove.

I used to be a Postie many moons ago, and seem to remember the line for the sorting offices.

Oh I love it when someone brings this up! My understand is -

There's a border between Boundary Road and Station Road, which is simply one side of the road is Boundary (the train station side), and one side is Station (which is odd, as it doesn't have the station on it). Then you have the border for Hove and Portslade, which I believe is the crossroad at New Church Road/Franklin Road (near all the banks). So theres in theory a Boundary Road, Portslade, a Boundary Road, Hove, a Station Road, Portslade, and a Station Road, Hove, all on one road...
