Another little tit bit. Apparently DC's brother is a QC who represented Jeffrey Archer and Jonathan Aitken. Obviously good at spotting a winner then!!!!

i'll ask you then , since you brought it up, how many eton educated "toffs" are there in the 32 person shadow cabinet ?

Don't know Bushy, basically, it doesn't bother me, doesn't Bother me that Boris is ex Eton.

At the national level, there is not that much between the backgrounds of Politicians.

I want POliticians to be represented of the general public, but that doesn't mean "Trade Unionist".

We need more working mums, mum, people who got kids at shit schools, people living in the sink estates, we need real business people. etc

sure, ok, its just that certain posters on NSC seem obsessed with it, i notice that drew hasnt replied, probably because his original posts about tory and eton toffs have been proved to be unadulterated bollox.

OF COURSE i WANT MY CHILDREN TO GET THE BEST EDUCATION, but the best way to get that is to improve state schools?

We have had our chances to minimise the establishment but our rulers like to send their kids to the red brick schools and universities and not to the failing comprehensive, though I give credit to Ed Balls his child go to a special needs school in Hackney and the Labour MP for Newcastle Upon Lyme children used to go to Beatrice's school.

I would have thought working mums were too busy working, looking after children (even with "new men" husbands, sorry partners) and as a result too exhausted to have time for politics of any hue.

People with "kids at shit schools" and others from the underclass of the lowly paid, if not struggling to cope, are so depressed they have difficulty in getting up to face another day let alone argue with self indulgent careerist politicians who hold them in contempt anyway. Like their friends in the media.

The politicians should represent a cross section of society and whilst I agree with the groups you quote, it should also include trade unionists who also represent large segments of society. Dare I say it, it should also include old Etonians but preferably in a more proportianate manner.

I don't spend all day glued to a keyboard. Also, don't recall you answering my question with regard to Labour 'cronyism'.

ok then i'll answer your question, blair appointed a lot of friends to posts , falconer, derry irvine etc sparking quite legitimate claims of cronyism, now , perhaps you can answer mine, how many of the old etonian "toffs" that you've complained about are members of the 32 person tory shadow cabinet?

Ok, so Falconer was a flatmate of Blair in the early days but who are the others under the category of 'etc' are these friends of Blair that you refer to?

Derry Irvine was already well in with the Labour party and it is said that John Smith had decreed that he would be the next Lord Chancellor if Labour won, which they did but under Blair.

still no answer on the old etonian members of the cabinet, or are you ready to admit you were talking bollox ?

bUT THAT'S WE NEED TO change Parliament, it can not be the preserved of the rich or the careerist Politician, and still obtain the respect of the Public, we do not tof the cap any more.

It needs representatives who will just do a 9-9 they may only do a half day?

Yes a worling mum, may not do it, but she could give up the job, or be an ex working mum, not necessarily a crony.

Perhaps we should be looking at "Expert lists" to democratise our system.

Over to Bushy.

No, I'll answer. He has, since last December, reduced the number of Old Etonians to about 2 or 3 in the cabinet. However, he's only done this because Steve Hilton has told him he has to move away from that image. He still has as his chief speech writer an Etonian, Dan Kruger. Edward Llewellyn is his Chief of Staff. Oliver Letwin is head of policy so probably very influential in the cabinet.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Gordon Brown and the Labour party are the best thing since sliced bread, I just think they are the least worst option for society than the Tories.
