5.25am, Miliband: "This has clearly been a very disappointing and difficult night for the Labour Party. I'm deeply sorry for what has happened"

After nodding off on the sofa I'm heading to bed for a few hours.

Fair play HT. You wanted one thing and I wanted another. If I end up disappointed next time I will remember this and hope I take it on the chin with as good a grace as you.

After all, its only politics. Tomorrow we all get back on with our lives,

I'll second that. Commiserations, HT. Have a Dunkel and things will seem better. I know what a battering 1997 felt to me after watching John Major attempt to keep together a party which was an absolute shambles. Seeing the Labour people celebrating was like a kick in the guts. I'm sure you'll come back though.

Tories ahead in seats for the first time tonight - no looking back now. 174-173.

It looks like there won't be a coalition anymore. Unrestrained austerity and cuts now Lib Dems are out of the frame.

As for the pollsters, I think they need to reconsider how they go about their business. Total shambles by them.

Apparently Baker may lose seat to the Tories and string rumours that the Tories will hold Hove and Ktown.
