He's one to watch. Very highly rated as a junior, he's the first to admit that his less than impressive career to date (he's 23) owes more to his lack of comittment than to any lack of ability. He appears to have turned a corner & recent results, even before this US Open suggest he may well be capable of breaking the top 50.

Seems to be getting his head together and starting to realise what it takes to become a professional. Can someone please tell him to stop rubbing his face when he's being interviewed, even if he is nervous.

Even though he does appear to be nervous, Andrea Orlandi plays with his left earlobe during EVERY interview he does. I can confirm this, as my WIFE insists that we are sure to sit and watch EVERY interview he does. And to check Player regularly to be sure not to miss one.

Superb from the lad - went to a challenger tennis event in London a year or so back he won the match in 3 sets but you could clearly see he had lots of potential, great to see him doing well

Extraordinary. He must be physically shattered now though, with all those qualifying rounds and the brand new pressure of making it to the big time.
Excellent mimicking of a Murray interview: nonchalant, unphased and in control.

The picking his nose and rubbing his eye seems to be a nervous tick, which hopefully some media lovey will attempt to stamp out by taping Evans' hands together behind his back when hes faced with a tv interview.

Good result. Hopefully he can keep it going. Bodes well for the future of GB in the Davis Cup.

Just watched Nadal beat the Brazilian Dutra Silva 6-2, 6-1, 6-0. Incredible player - playing some great tennis after his injury - he's going to take some stopping. Oscar should be happy.

I do like the way that the US Open keeps going until after 11 at night

Daniel "Dan" Evans (born 23 May 1990) is a British professional tennis player. He is the British No. 3 and plays right-handed. He made his Davis Cup debut for Great Britain in September 2009. He hails from Hall Green, Birmingham, England.

ENGLISH NOT BRITISH will wait to see if the papers make a thing of this?

Even given Tomic's notorious flakiness, it was quite a performance after the first set. Needs to work on his first serve percentage a bit though, he was pretty lucky to get away with it last night, a better returner would have beaten him soundly I think.

It's great seeing athelete find this belief as if from nowhere. Judging by his recent form there's no reason he shouldn't be a top 100 player. Good news for the Davis cup.

Gave it a good shot, apparently. Took it to 4 sets and could have forced a decider. Still, £60k eaned and a top 150 spot. Let's see if he can kick on from here.

So annoying that he didn't/wasn't able to take advantage of being a break up in the 4th.

Murray is back on now. Wawrinka is the opponent. It can be seen here, if one does not subscribe to Sky Sports. http://cricfree.tv/sky-sports-1-live-stream-free.php
